Requesting info on Clio Engine conversion

Im doing an engine conversion on my Mk1 clio 1.4 8v to a 2.0 16v Williams engine and im after some info on any problems im likely to run into along the way, i hear this would be the best place to ask. Ive got the engine with loom, ECU, gearbox ,driveshaft ,hubs, subframe, rear axle and discs. Im pretty sure the engine, gearbox and driveshaft etc is a straight swap (correct me if im wrong) but my main concern is with the ECU. Is it simply swap them over or am i going to have problems with the alarm, immobiliser and key remote central locking etc? Also which key would i need to use, the original one or the williams key?
I hate electrics! always complicate things lol. Any info you guys could give me on this conversion would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Alan

The easiest thing would be to use as many williams items as possible, i'm sure the williams key is encoded to the ECU, don't go half assed and splice wires, just swap the looms where you need to

willy ecus don't have the immob on them[/QUOTE

So by swapping the ecu's over im definately going to loose the immob....... Thats not a prob really but does that mean my alarm wont work aswell with the williams ecu? The alarm is wired up to the central locking off the original renault key fob but its not factory fitted so wont be encoded to the 1.4 ecu so should be ok with williams key.

Ye that sounds like the easiest option but wont i have to carry both key with me? williams key to unlock the car and 1.4 key to start the car or should i use the williams ignition barrel aswell so its all off same key?

i'de start by cleaning out your bong

that makes no sence.. :eek::eek::eek:

you dont need the willy key

use the willy ecu and the plip as normal and if it dont work get a plip and reciver from a car that didnt have imobo
