Dear Fellow Renault Enthusiasts,
WSR entry tickets are free. They entitle you to park in the public parking
area, enjoy all of the racing and qualifying and visit all the exhibition
areas. You can obtain these tickets free of charge from any Renault dealer.
This will be a fantastic event for all that attend.
However you may not be aware that there is also an 'event within an event'
for the committed Renault enthusiast.
An official collectors' event has been organised by Christian Schmaltz and
his team from Renault Histoire and Collection (Renault Heritage in France)
at every WSR event in Europe. At Donington this is held in association with
the Renault Alpine Owners Club who are collating entries for all UK clubs &
collectors.
There is a ?7 (10 euro) registration fee to participate in the collectors'
events. Once registered you are eligible to park in the collectors' area on
both days. You will receive a Renault goody bag usually with a T-shirt &
posters etc (worth the fee on its own!), you will get a place in the
collectors' parade and you are automatically entered into the concours
competition. There is also an optional evening event planned for Saturday
night.
Eligible vehicles are all Renault Sport, Renault Alpine & Classic Renault
vehicles.
e.g. All Pre 1970 Renaults, Alpine A110, A310, A610, GTA, Clio 172, Clio
182, Clio V6, 5GT Turbo, 21 Turbo, 5 Turbo 1 & 2, Spider etc.
To join the parade and other collectors' events you'll need to register with
Renault Histoire and Collection.
The reason you need to register is simple... numbers.
Imagine if 100,000 cars with free tickets turned up for a parade!!
The Renault Alpine Owners Club, Renault Classic Car Club, Renault Sports
Club, Renault Owners Club, Renault Freres, Renault Turbo Owners Club, Club
Alpine Renault, Renault Performance Car Club, Renault 21 Turbo Owners Club,
Club Clio & Clio Sport Club already have members registered or have been
invited to participate.
You'll find all the information and registration forms you need on the
events page or in the forum at www.renaultalpine.co.uk
Please return any registration forms with payment for ?7 (or 10 euros) to:
Renault Alpine Owners Club, 17 Canada Wharf, 255 Rotherhithe Street, London
SE16 5ES.
(Alternatively you can send them directly to Renault Histoire & Collection
in France).
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or

Hope to see some of you there!

Following my previous email, many of you had queries and requests regarding Donington WSR. I hope to answer some of them below.
Renault France have hired the entire circuit and all facilities. They have not yet confirmed whether the camp site will be open but the circuit management think this is likely as it has been discussed.
Here are the latest updates:
130,000 tickets have been distributed to date by Renault UK so attendance is likely to be good.
The R21T Super Production (requested by R21T Owners Club), R5 T1 Tour de Corse (requested by Accy Paul) & GTA Europa Cup (requested by Andrew Jones) are confirmed in the visiting Renault Historic Collection.
Celebrity French drivers autograph sessions are confirmed with Jean Ragnotti, Rene Arnoux, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud & Michel Leclere.
Paddock parking by model is confirmed. Please can clubs give me an indication of the numbers of each model registered as soon as possible.
Concours d'elegance is confirmed (if there is sufficient demand). I have suggested prizes by model. Also overall Best Pre-1970, Best Post-1970, Best Competition Prepared & Best in Show. Renault will provide prizes.
Please let me know if you would be interested in participating, or helping with the organisation or judging. One of the celebrity drivers will also be available to judge.
Gala Evening with meal, Jean Ragnotti speech, Ragnotti movies & Disco is confirmed (again if there is sufficient demand). Renault will provide the venue & audio-visual support. I will also need to help Jean translate his speech!!
Please let me know if you would be interested in attending the gala evening. The cost in Le Mans & Zolder was 30 euros per person. Donington management estimate this will cost more in the UK. I need a good idea of numbers if this is to go ahead so please let me know how many people from your club may be interested. It really made the weekend at the other events.
Celebrity British driver(s) to be confirmed.
Dear Fellow Enthusiasts,
As you know there will be a parade lap(s) for all cars on Sunday.
However on Saturday, as there is no parade for collectors, Renault have given me the opportunity to select 5 or 6 private cars for a chance to join the F1 & Alpine A443 Le Mans cars in a demo round the circuit.
I have been told that these must be top level cars and drivers to avoid crashes and for the demonstration to stay at a top level.
This is a rare opportunity and you would be in the company of ex-works drivers Jean Ragnotti, Rene Arnoux, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud and Michel Leclere. So serious enquiries only.
PARKING:
Collectors are currently scheduled to park in the in-field area rather than the paddock (as was true for the majority of the vehicles at other WSR events). This is due to limited space in the paddock at Donington. We will therefore be adjacent to the main exhibition space and there is likely to be a lot more public interest in and movement around the vehicles. The majority of this area is grass and you are therefore likely to be parked on a grassed area. Vehicles will be parked by model and there will be no individual club marquees or gazebos. Renault UK have agreed to provide one communal marquee for the collectors to provide shelter for the competition judges and/or collectors in the event of bad weather. As the tunnel to the in-field is also a public access route, collectors are advised to arrive early (certainly before 9.00am) to guarantee a space in the exhibition area. The organizers would be grateful if trailered vehicles could arrive especially early (Friday night if possible) to allow time for trailers and support vehicles to move back to the trailer parking area. It is envisaged that trailered vehicles will not move on Saturday night but will remain in the exhibition area until Sunday where possible. Renault assure me that security will be good. Racing continues until after 6.00pm on Saturday and it will be difficult to move vehicles before this time.
GALA:
A gala evening event is confirmed for Saturday night in the Grand Prix museum at the circuit. The exact format and cost is unconfirmed (buffet or silver service), but there will be short movies and talks from celebrity drivers. Currently we hope to accommodate all the collectors but places are likely to be limited and those clubs interested should register an interest (with approximate numbers) as soon as possible.
CONCOURS
This is likely to place on Saturday. It has been decided for simplicities sake that all registered vehicles will automatically be entered into a concours type event. It is hoped that representatives from all clubs will participate in judging and some of you have already expressed an interest. Judges will use their discretion to decide whether a vehicle will be entered in a standard or modified category. If prizes have not been awarded during the day it is hoped that presentations would be made at the gala evening.
PARADE
The race programme at Donington is busier than usual due to some additional UK events. Collectors events are currently scheduled as follows but are subject to change.
Saturday: Selected Histoire & Collection vehicles demonstration 12:20 - 12:40
POSSIBILITY of selected Collectors vehicles 12:40 - 13.25 (perhaps competition finalists)
Sunday: Selected Histoire & Collection vehicles 13:20 - 12:40
ALL Collectors vehicles 17:20 - 18:00
ALPINE PARTS:
My Foreign Liaison officer today informed me that the Alpine factory will be
sending a support vehicle to Donington. He asked during his visit there last
week and they have agreed to send one. This means if anyone going to Donington requires parts from the Alpine factory they can let us know the part no's and quantities and we will make sure they are on the factory support lorry for collection over the weekend. Cash payable on collection. Prices are generally 30% lower at the factory and they can often source that 'hard to find' part.
REGISTRATION:
Histoire and Collection have asked for weekly updates of registered participants so that they do not have to prepare the paperwork and goody bags all at the last minute. If you have any information regarding registered participants for your club, please could you let me have it as soon as possible.
TRADE STANDS:
It has not yet been confirmed whether small non-Renault trade stands will be permitted.
It has also been confirmed that the campsite at the circuit will be open for the WSR weekend
If you know of another relevant UK Renault club or group (not in the address list above) that may be interested in this event please can you forward this information.
If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Regards
Stephen
