Renaultsport has released a teaser image for a "simply spectacular race car" set to be unveiled in August.

The vehicle was designed exclusively for the World Series by Renault competition which will include a brand new category next year. It will be used in a single-model championship and is going to feature a carbon monocoque built by Dalara while power will be provided by a Nismo engine delivering more than 500 bhp (373 kW).

Output will be channeled to the wheels through a 7-speed sequential gearbox provided by Sadev while Michelin will be in charge of fitting the cars with a new tire specifically designed for the competition. Featuring a sleek profile with a sloping roofline, the Renault Sport Trophy will boast a large fixed rear wing and will tip the scales at 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs).

Full details will be disclosed on August on 27 when the car will be unveiled in Russia at the Moscow Motor Show.

although Renault claim that this new race series car is not connected to the Alpine A110 -50 concept you have to hope that with all these terrific looking cars including the Desire concept that they don't finally drop the ball on the production alpine. I don't think they will

Yep, but we know that already, your vee is safe.....
The Alpine A110- 50 was built around a Megane Trophy so no surprises that this will be an all new similar concept of a race car and its also being built by Dallara as before. Like the Megane Trophy though, the road car will be very far removed so don't get too excited.

My own personal opinion is that assuming the Alpine road car is produced as planned then this series will be branded as Alpine's, if the race series is announced as a Renaultsport trophy then its a clear sign the road car will not see the light of day.
