Alpine Renault 8 GTT

Sorry @DaveL485 , Yes I need a standard 5GTturbo fuel regulator. There should have been one in the pile of bits, but I think Paul has moved the stash a few times. I didn't want to go mad as if he goes EFI later it would need another reg, or if he goes atmo it wont need one at all. Trying to get this old motor up and running for sensible cost to evaluate the car and see where we go from there. Atmo is traditional, possibly more valuable, noisy and tiring. Turbo option if it all works well would make a deceptively fast car and relaxed too.
Stay tuned and you'll find out

Ive got one off my 9 Turbo, I am going EFI so (hopefully) won't need it. The car was off the road from 2005 but still started and ran OK before I stripped it so I assume its still OK. I'll message Paul and see if he will pay my extortionate rates :)

@DaveL485 Sounds like a plan. The only ones I can see are the malpassi version, which I don't know anything about, quality etc. Other types aimed at fuel injection which will Feck the Carby in no time at all.

In other news the MK1 throttle linkage is finished

And I don't like it ! it works well enough. I will try it on the motor and see

The Mk2 is cooking away at the mo.

Tonight I decided on a throw together to see if it fits
Surprise surprise it did ! I was worried that the height increase due to the rotation spacers would run me out of room

To use an old adage it's not pretty, but it works

I also need a m20 threaded nipple to remove the sandwich plate temporarily to simplify the oil system for initial start up. I'll have enough problems to contend with, without making more

Time for bed...............

I just bought one of these for the 9, I have another 2 used on the way to me too, let me know if you want one of the used ones or the P/N for the new one.

You beat me to it, I found one on tinterweb for a fiver, so its on it's way. Thanks for the offer, if I'd had some correct diameter tube, I could have made one, but I like to think of the mess I've saved....

Oh and in response to your stack of nuts and bolts in stock - yes :)

Overflow

Then there's all the hose clips, exhaust clamps and the tubs for the used nuts and bolts... it never ends!

Magic soup for gearboxes.
If you run a hypoid bevel final drive, a quality lubricant is essential for long life and low noise. This stuff is excellent, mixes with everything else and is cheap compared to any other `Quality' product.
It is the consistency of straight EP80.

In other news, the gearstick extension for @paule78 's 8 is underway, this is because, if I fit the drivers seat he has bought, the only way I'll drive it is by sitting on a sofa ratchet strapped to the roofrack a la Mr Bean......R8TT Apr (73).webp

more soon.......

The following 3 pics show the afternoon's Development
This is true car building when you are off the charts, there is no plan or instructions and none of the bits were ever meant to be connected to one another.

The dots are beginning to join up, hopefully no nasties lying in wait
