Alpine Renault 8 GTT

Yesterday was a long day with a rubbing block!!
It's looking good though and hopefully we'll be finished by the end of today and ready for paint.
The drivers side roof had a couple of small dents in it, which I noticed when stripping it. Dave said that when he started to repair them he chased them all the way along the roof like someone had been piling fenceposts on the roof. Anyway he is on the Shell with the long long 18" block and I'm doing all the boot insides and engine bay when these appear in the guide coat

This is the nearside looks like some Kid had a tennis ball, so a few more very minor repairs

I finally graduated onto the GRP panels as these don't really have a flat surface on them anywhere

Final shot of the N/S doors after the long block, I've yet to see a standard panel that flats off right to the edges everywhere, they are usually a teeny bit low at the edges. If you like looking for faults on cars these are always good places to start, or maybe life's too short. You decide..

More soon ......If my fingertips are still there.

Actually its my Knees that are painful, Though the fingers are protesting a bit.
Statement for today and everyday
I hate louvres

I really hate Louvres

Anyway there are no more bits that need rubbed, so the next steps are beyond my technical competence, this means a couple of days off... YAY....

I received a Whats app pic of a Red car, so I took a trip out to have a look

I'm sorry about the Pic quality, but the panels are glowing under the lights giving bad reflections, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Tomorrows jobs will be to polish it and start assembling. Plan is to fit all the panels and Glass then I'll take it back to my workshop and build it up
Wish me luck
More Soon
It's Glenalmond Refinishing by the way............

Brief update
It has been manic the last two days building the car up body wise, so no pics of that, once you are on a roll you keep going, I have left Dave polishing it today and I will be going back to take it away on Mon afternoon.
The eternal child in me had to bring the rear wheels to try, and after fitting my own 8" wheels to test things out it was all good. You can imagine my dismay when today @paule78 's 8" wheels are touching the arches!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I just hate cars.....
This is a real PITA and has happened because of the position of the rims on the centres is different between the Billet 60's (mine) and the RA's Paul's
This makes paul's wheels have about 7mm more offset, meaning the 7mm clearance has evaporated along with my temper
There are several solutions which are either, A expensive, or B time consuming, some are both, however I think I have a cunning plan
Pics for your viewing pleasure

The flatting and polishing method is a 3M system, basically you denib with 2000 grit, then you put a 3000 grit disc in the orbital sander and flat the car (worried me I can tell you)

Finally shot of the finished roof and yes Dave is as camera shy as me.

More soon............... F@@K!!N**** Wheels................

Looks fab! Me and @Mark_L are going to do the rear arches on the 21 soon, going to use my actual wheels and tyres to avoid this issue.
That is always the best plan. When Image originally made these it was Salv who gave them a 2 piece 6 spoke to work from. They have a lot of offset built into the centre compared to my Billet 60's and my Gotti's which are almost identical to Madin's, so I went with best educated guess.................
