I’ve just brought a Renault 5 gt turbo it’s my 1st one I had a couple of fiat uno turbos before but they are just so hard to find so I thought I’d give the r5 a go anyway cutting to the chase the car I brought has been off the road for 6 year previous owner rebuilt the engine I was just wondering the things I need to consider before trying to get her running so far I’ve brought
Oil, filter
Air filter
Leads
Plugs
Dizzy cap and arm
Coolant
Is there any other things I should consider replacing like water pump
Drive belt? I’m very new to this car and just need a few tips. Thanks

Charge / check battery is ok, fresh fuel

I would be tempted to pull fuel feed to carb and flush old fuel out incase of any crud you could chane fuel filter if giving the full service

Brake fluid before driving ;)

Yor treating the car prior to fire up so hopefully all good.....check the belt condition and change if needed

If concerned over engine turn by hand before service ;)

Everything that has been standing for a long time I syringe a tablespoon of oil into the bores through the spark plug hole, turn it by hand a bit then spin it on the starter with the plugs out (also an oil change).

Remember to put rags in front of the holes or you'll cover everything in oil. Make sure you crank it until the oil pressure light goes out before starting it up.
