Rear Rose Joints

Not a direct swap with the merlins, the merlins should work on mk2 part 16 tho. MK 1 is part9 and there is a bolt already machined on the joint(the bolt is for tightening the whole track rod end onto the subframe). If you want to go with Merlin with mk1, you will need to fabricate/buy that bolt

second thought

i had 2 mk1 subframes right now, i just went check them out
i see difference design on the part 9 even on both mk1 subframes
my mk1 subframe that came with the car had the design similar to the mk2 one, but the bolt that to tighten the subframe is different than mk2
so my bet is that the fluro one should work on mk1 as well, but you need the correct bolt for it....
its easier to see pictures/diagram for yourself

Looks like you need to order a m14 rose joint and get a m14 bolt to attach to the subframe, but without seeing a mk 1 tie bar cant say if the threaded end of the rose joint will screw in to tie bar Ok, why not buy 1 and see how you go, risk £30 to save £400.

Rose joints being talked about more recently.
Problems with both types, need to ensure bolts are tight to avoid fretting, also there are issues with massive corrosion cells being inadvertently built in here. Mixed metals are bad news, last thing you want is stainless anywhere near, the assemblies I have seen tend to be corrosion locked solid and take a lot of effort to free off if at all as these are the adjustment that sets up the rear end tracking so need to ne in absolutely perfect condition without any slop, play or seizing anywhere in the whole set up. Tracking is absolutely paramount on Vees and needs to be perfect along with all other settings on the suspension. The difference between a properly aligned car and one running on guess work are poles apart on the driving experience and general safety :approve:
