WET BATTERY RENAULT CB1U
BATTERY 65AH 720A
Part number : 7711222787
£112.48

To save money order 7711130089 @ £105.00 + VAT

This is the replacement part number for the above. To get the replacement (or equivalent) number click on the 'refresh' (two arrows) symbol next to the part number in window view to open the supersession chain. Then cut and past the new number into search or order by part number for availability and price. Sometimes this gives a cheaper part, sometimes not, but always worth trying.

I ordered one of these batteries for the silver car last week and it was the identical 720A 65Ah item. Was in stock as well for same day delivery!

As I think James has pointed out before there doesn't seem to be any direct equivalent for this battery other than the genuine Renault one. Even the Renault equivalent range (Motrio) offer nothing in this size/spec. Most equivalent brochures list 027 ot 027T which are 540A 60Ah & 550A 62Ah respectively, so neither have the same cranking performance or reserve capacity of the Renault item. Has anyone found anything closer?

100T 680A 70Ah Yuasa Elite Retails around £115 + VAT Calcium/Calcium
Trade £80 + VAT
096 760A 70Ah Yuasa AGM Retails around £140 + VAT AGM ( absorbed glass mat )
Trade £ ?
Cranking amps on Yuasa batteries are usually more than the rating, my 100T was putting out 740A
Most suppliers will sell for trade if you ask !
These batteries will fit Ph2, is Ph1 the same size ?

Hi Ed, thanks for that.

096 760A 70Ah Yuasa AGM Retails around £140 + VAT AGM ( absorbed glass mat )

This looks like a reasonable alternative, but where did you find it? Is this something new?

There are no AGM batteries in my Yuasa catalogue, only the regular 096 which is only 650A 75Ah

What I don't understand is why Yuasa would recommend an 027 or 027T in their list when these batteries are clearly down on the OEM spec especially when they do manufacture ones that are closer. Presumably they would make more profit recommending the larger more expensive batteries too!

What do you guys think of an Optima Redtop? I know its smaller and have less capacity than the original but its a really good battery and have a great cranking performance.

My original battery has just gone and Im thinkning of buying an Optima, anyone tried it in the V?

Thanks,
Per

The 096 AGM seems to be much longer in size than the 027T they list for a Clio v6. Catalogue

The 100T is 278 x 175 x 175 the same pysical size as my OE battery the 096 AGM is slightly taller at 190 but there looks to be about 40mm to play with. Yes the AGM 096 is a new product but should now be available.

not an exact science and the battery tray will acomodate a range of sizes. Will tell you what one I fitted when I pop outside later. They looked it up for me in the store.

Slightly off topic, the battery on my race spider is a small red top race thing, probably a good few years old, has to put up with constant starting and short runs with no chance to charge up from the engine yet, on first push of the button after 5 months of inactivity it cranked the engine like it has just come off charge. :approve:

Good info Mark. :approve: I was worried about it being too tall and the front liner sitting on top of it, saying that I don't even recall seeing the battery for the past 3 years.

Tarr Mark!!!! Having had time to look into it there are quite a few to be honest....

Have you still got lots of knobs left???? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Ive deleted the pm so hence the question...

Thanks Tim

sorry, no knobs (sure I replied to you Tim, but had loads of knobs pm's lately!)
have a word with stephen (renaultalpine) he might be able to sort you.

the battery I fitted is marked HCB063 its as tall and deep as the original but not so wide. the clamp (on a ph1 anyway) fits in the centre at the bottom front so the width is not important. Weight saving a possibility here.....in exactly the wrong place mind.

That's the one we use in the GTA. It's also correct for the GT Turbo. Cranking and reserve capacity are down a bit on the correct one but they work OK for the V6 in the GTA.

They are often super cheap from Renault in their Motrio range, as low as £20+VAT[smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Normally, around £40

I know the rating is down on the correct one, but the one I replaced was similar IIRC (obviously not the original when I bought the car). Mind you, my engine always catches immediately so I have never tested the cranking power. If your name is Brett it may not be up to it
