Re: French Car Show 2009

07.30 - Gates open to club members

Please ensure you have your stand pass (Big R) displayed clearly.
You will be directed on entry to the v6clio.net stand which is Zone 14. All of the admin team will be there in advance, so look for the dark blue tent and our banner.

We aim to have everyone on the stand by 9.00am so please set your alarm clock.

The public arrive at 9.00am and are there to see stands full of cars. FCS say "It is preferred you get in BEFORE 09.00."

If you need to be near the front of our stand for access to the track, please let the person arranging parking know when you arrive.

Yeah, fingers crossed for good weather this weekend!!!!!!

See ya all tomorrow!

I've decided to head up there today too. Booked into the Holiday Inn
Guillaume, I tried to PM you but msgs aren't getting any further than my outbox, any chance of tagging along the drive up with you?

Andy

Just got back home phew!

Saturday eve started off with a nice chinese meal [smilie=hungry.gif] , but ended with some proper grotty bars!

Was a nice day on Sunday once my hangover had subsided!

Hopefully I have got some OK pictures (i'll upload them tomorrow) and i got to drive the track :approve:, even if under sombre circumstances. [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

And thanks again to Brett & his parents for a FAB BBQ.

Cheers
Peter (off to order a steering wheel!) :D

Well what a weekend!!

Fantastic organising James, thank you very much for all your hard work in making this a great day out!

It was great to meet new faces and also to catch up with people i've met before, everyone is so nice and friendly!!

From the trip down on the Saturday to getting back at teatime on the Sunday, I enjoyed every minute of it.

When we arrived, a little investigation unearthed a tap round the back of the hotel, which felt like it was in the middle of a jungle with the greenfly invasion, but we managed to get the cars rid of all the squished bugs from the drive down! 10/10 to Shaun for his OCD cleaning efforts, the car looked great!

We had a lovely 'banquet' on the Saturday evening, followed by some 'interesting' bars with lots of 'interesting' people in them! But it was fun :) And I must say, the highlight of the night for me was Shaun's highly amusing hiccups!!!

The weather was absolutely brilliant on the Sunday, and it was definitely a much better show this year than last year, in my opinion. The layout seemed to work much better this year, and they had some good entertainment on - especially when Jeremy from Renaultsport said the best car of the bunch out doing the Renaultsport demonstration was the V6 :) :) :)

It was great to be able to go out and join the rest of the guys for the Parade Lap in memory of Dan, it really did bring a tear to the eye seeing the vast number of cars making a complete loop around the circuit as a mark of respect. I'm sure Dan was looking down with a big smile on his face.

After getting rather burnt from wandering around in the sun all day, we decided it was time to head back home, and it made my day to see a Ferrari 360 pass us on the motorway, leaning over with an impressed look on his face, giving us a thumbs up as he went past!!

Damn I love being a vee owner!!!!!!!! Roll on the next show!!

Perhaps one of the best FCS shows the club has been to. My pictures in the Gallery

I have many thanks to people. Firstly to Shaun who got all the Vees onto the stand neatly. Considering the layout plan was somewhat fresh from the drawing board.

Thanks to all of you for attending, and especially those who travelled the length and breadth of the country to get there.

To Mark Dow who had taken on-board the club's concerns about the whole stand space issues of the past.

For me it was great to meet loads of new faces and of course those of you I've met before. You Vees were a joy to see. So many different little and big touches of style and ingenuity, a credit to you all. :approve:

Congrats' to Walshy (Ray) on winning the car of the show prize. The Vee was stunning and also consideration was given to a healthy amount of 'group' spirit by the club member. [smilie=bowdown.gif]

I could go one for ages, but lucky for you all I've just got home, and knackered yet very happy. :D

Lastly..... It was especially lovely to meet Dan's family and have a good long chat with his Mum. She was delighted to see all these Vees, and Dan's which he loved so much. The parade lap was as moving as I imagined it to be, hence I didn't do the lap myself. It was a big effort for me to get up on the stands to spectate, and I can honestly say it was worth every step. I had genuine man tears.

I personally feel FCS may well be back on our list of good events for the club.

hi everyone, just like to say what a good time i had this weekend, it was my 1st show and a first time meeting most of you and everyone was v. freindly :D

driving up with shaun and peter was good, so much fun driving in convoy! as was my 1st show i came totally unprepared and was suprised to find people had bought buckets and loads of cleaning gear! thanks ray for lending me some polish, i will come prepared next time!

Sat nite in kettering was good food wise, lovely chinese not too sure about some of the local bars mind! but to be fair think i was way too stuffed to drink much so went home a little early :s

As for the car show that was great, ive never seen so many vees together and they all looked cracking! maybe im a little biased but certaninly the best looking stand at the show. only gripe about the show was that there wasn't many trade stands to look at and the announcing girl in the arena was well annoying but other than that it was really good weekend and im looking forward to seeing you all at the next meet :D

P.S many thanks to brett and his folks for laying on a fantastic bbq afterwards [smilie=hungry.gif]
andy :approve:

hi, thanks to everyone had a great time this weekend, nice to meet new vee members and the others i allready now (no problem about the polish andy anytime) had a good drive down and back with emma and phil :) hopfully see every one again at another meet soon :approve: :)

Was it just me who heard that annoying girl on the tannoy saying Dan's lap was a charity parade?

We had a loud speaker just by our stand. Thankfully it had "technical difficulties" which saved me from having to put a tent peg through it.

Thanks to everyone who put so much time and effort in to make the weekend happen ( you all know who you are  ).

Cheers to Ray for getting us there and back without any problems sure I'd of got lost with the Sat Nav. LOL

Nice to meet some new faces and share a few beers and some good food on the Saturday night in Kettering. Even if some of the bars were a bit "grotty" What you mean Peter!!!!!!!!!!!

The show was far better this year than last :approve: With the great weather and loads to see and do. If the FCS keeps improving this much it will be a definite for next year.
The parade lap in memory of Dan was so touching with so many cars doing a lap of honour it brought a tear to the eye, a fitting tribute for Dan and his family.

Hope everone got home safely and see you all at the next one [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]
