Gutted!! A Huge big brick/stone in the middle of the road and I didn't have a chance to move out of the way as cars were coming the other way :(

Will this be easily repaired? I'm taking it to a couple of bodyshops next weekend to have a look at it, ones which have been recommended to me as I'm worried about the LY match. The guy over the phone said sometimes it can be hard to repair some cracks and wants to see it to check it won't need a new bumper!! Please tell me that it's easily sorted without replacing the whole thing!

Has anyone else had a similar thing and got it repaired ok?

On the plus side, I needed a front bumper re-spray from all the dreaded stone chips, so I'll be killing 2 birds with one stone if it can be fixed.

Hi Debs.... really annoying! If you hit a brick, i think you've come off pretty lightly!

You have PM..

i had a bit of damage on my bumper from half a brick my own fault coz i put it there. but had it repainted by the local renault dealer as i know the painter you cant even see where its been done. not too far for you either as its junction 4 m25

Which dealer is that?

Might give them a call then thanks for that. Thanks to the guys who have sent me pm's too :approve:

hi deb,

that totally sucks, especially as you might have been able to dodge it if no other cars!!

have you checked underneath the car for any other possible damage? or did the brick get knocked out of the way by the bumper!?

Ian

Yes it went underneath the car, it sounded really loud when it hit it so I was worried about possible damage there too. I've not had any leaks or anything but I will make sure I get it checked out.

And Maximan, thanks again. Is it just the one sprayer at the dealers or should I take his name to make sure I get the right guy?

Hi Deb

It doesnt look like a hard fix to be honest a bit of filler and and sanding. The expense is in the prep work and painting - will probably have to do the whole bumper for a top job.

Maybe a good time to try and get a splitter. Let me know if you get a good colour match once work has been done.

If I were you and if your not going to get it fixed yet, get a drill with 6mm drill bit in and drill a small hole at the end of the crack this will stop it going any further up the bumper.

I'm hopefully going to get it sorted next month when I get paid, so I don't plan on it staying for long.

Thanks, she's all booked in now for the end of the month. Hopefully it will be pretty painless as the place I'm going to has worked on Ferarris and Porcshe as well as the usuall sort of cars. It was recommended by someone who has had a good match with LY before so fingers crossed. I'm getting a 1.2 Corsa for a courtesy car, that should be fun!

We don't do infraction points here, but if we did this would be worth 12 and an instant ban.

Piss easy repair. I had a 2in chunk missing out of mine...Colour match will be your main concern....

Haven't been on for a while.....I hit a fox last year and had much more damage that that (mines Liquid as well). Managed to get it repaired and you can't tell at all - didn't need a new bumper. Took to Renault Bradford who did a stunning job, matched the paint perfectly - probably too late as you've got yours booked in now, but if you change your mind let me know and I'll send you detials (oh, and I got a 1.6 Megane for a CC as well).

I can post pics, but I'm not sure if they are suitable given there's a fox sticking out of my bumper!

Debs: Where did you get your bumper sprayed at please? did they do a perfect LY match?

Thanks,

Matt.
