5 GT Turbo R5GTT - removing caliper handbrake cable

Well I'm a little stumped, half way through removing all the calipers to have them refurbished, I couldn't work out how to remove the handbrake cable that connects to the rear calipers. I managed to get the cable end crimp over the holding arm at the very end but can't work out how this then threads through the rest of the caliper where it feeds through.
Some posts I've seen suggest cutting the lug off the end but I'm not keen to do this. Another thread suggests undoing the cable at the other end, in the centre of the car near to the centre section of exhaust, where both left and right cables meet at the junction bracket. The problem with this is the cable at this end also has the same lug ends, so can't be undone and also confirms the fact that cutting wouldn't be of any benefit, especially if fitting a new cable.
What am I missing? Hopefully something straightforward!

Many thanks

Dave, I've managed to get the lug out of its seating on the handbrake arm on the caliper end, but the cable itself also feeds through a hole in the caliper.
It's feeding the cable out of the hole that has confused me.
The lug on both ends is crimped on by the looks of it.

Point to others looking to remove the handbrake cable from the caliper, sure this has been covered before over the years but just to highlight:
By design and as Dave states above, the cable should pull out through the hole in the caliper from the rear but the chances are that the collar with the cable running through it will be set firm in place, either through rust or use. Heating up isn't an option due to the rubber sheathing, so cutting the cable may be the only option. Once removed, the collar can be knocked out but then a new cable will be required.
Thanks

I've never had to cut a cable myself, the stuck ones usually give up after a beating with a sharp edge under the lip of the collar. If you're replacing them anyway it doesnt matter I guess!
