R5 GTX New Addition

Ridgeback

Member
Picked this up on Sunday. 1 Owner from new and the biggest history file I've seen. Unfortunately,it is an absolute rotter :(
the plastic sills were covering up a multitude of sins and the metal work underneath has disintegrated. The plan was to save it,but unfortunately it's too far gone and can only be used as a parts donor for mine.I've fitted the alloys, rear interior panels, radio ('80's pioneer ;)) and the luxury of a working fag lighter. The bumper is going to be sprayed and fitted with the fog lights and I have a fuel flap at last and I'm going to whack in the ultra comfy seats.
Quandary now,is whether to chuck in the 1.7 and box,as it's free,or wait and get a valver.......

nice, shame its a rotter though.

I'd put the engine in, that way you get to see what your bay is like condition wise and since it'll all be easy to remove after freeing everything off it'll make another swap easier

Yeah,it is a shame it's so far gone as the idea was to save the shell for a trackday project.Still, bought it eyes wide open,as the seller had been quoted 600 quid to do the welding!
I think you are right about fitting it in. I am still looking at a valver or could now also be looking at the 2.0 8V that's in another thread, but it gives me a chance to fit the GTX instruments in,which has the rev counter and fit the engine mounts, box etc and as you say, have a good look in the bay :)
