R5 Brake upgrade

What's the best way of upgrading the brakes on my '92 Renault 5, 1.1,keeping the 13" rims? They are pretty shocking even with the awesome 1100cc's of power :)
I've been thinking of converting the rear to discs and imagine I would need to swap the rear axle from a GTT. I was thinking maybe clio vented discs for the front, but not sure if they would do them in I think 250 ish diameter and if I would need the calipers etc.
I've scoured the web,but the only brake upgrades seem to be for GTT 15" size rims
Cheers
Daz.

indeed, GTT/diesel/ph1 1.6 megane front 238mm discs and calipers best thing you'll do.

GTT rims are 14's btw

ohh and gtt rear beam is the best way but you can convert the drum axle but its much easier to just get a gtt axle

GT Turbo rims are 13" and that would be the best bet plus later on can upgrade to better suspension as there is a lot more choice out there plus goes quite cheap on eBay

13's then.

You would think I would know that, especially as I have sold sets before.

They must be getting rare now the gtt rims

Thanks guys.
There is a place that breaks GT's just down the road from me in Petworth,Surrey,so I think a visit is in order Saturday morning,to pick up some calipers and a beam and will have a poke about at what else is down there.....:D

Yeah like chet says, rear braking only consists of about 10% of total, so changing from drums to discs is a lot of effort, saying that the torsion bar would be better, or for easier conversion whilst still staying at rear drums look at the renault extra torsion bar thats even stronger spring on the back in the torsion bar. Yeah well worth speaking to Mike, great guy and will always help anyone out, though he dont break many 5s but has a lot of parts, he has 30+ GT Turbos though and only breaks the real rotten ones which has no chance in getting back on the road, so not sure on how many rear torsion bars. But front legs / calipers will have more chance.

Cheers
I'll give the rear discs a steer then.I'll see if they have some calipers.
The front struts are GTT turbo ones anyway, but with the standard brakes fitted on.I'll see about the turbo torsion bar whilst I'm there.

Just checking my report there, i put GT hubs on mine with GT carriers and calipers. Not sure why i changed the hubs, maybe the struts don't fit the standard hubs?

Do you mean the 52 or 54mm bolt spacing for the strut's. ? Pov spec 52 I think other's 54. You can tell as the 54mm one's are thicker. I did have some 52 and 54mm hub's, but bined em'

If you change the legs for a phase 2 setup you need the hubs as they are angled, or you would have to go phase 1 setup on the gt turbo which is the same angle as the non turbo renault 5.
