Megane R26 forged internals

hi guys, I'm wanting to go forged internals route so I can run some more power but I need it to be reliable, only thing is I wouldn't know we're to start, I don't have the confidence to do the build by myself but my Megane is my daily so I couldn't have it off the road for too long

Would the best option to buy the internals and get a garage to build it? If so what would I need?

Or would anyone recommend buying an already build engine and selling mine after fitting? Any input would be very helpful, thanks in advance!

Buying a already built engine will be cheapest. I know Josh Cook has one for sale and Dan Lewis.

Putting one together with your parts ensures you are happy with what is being done.

Places like engine dynamics , clioTurbo or Rs Tuning can build them to your budget.

The best VFM is definitely a pre loved engine. I believe Josh Cook engine has never been run !

^^ as above.

I'd be getting in contact with Josh Cook and discussing logistics....

Your current engine should go down a treat with a Clio guy wanting to do a meg conversion also....

Also...good work ;) you don't hang about ;) haha

Yeah it's low milliage as well so hopefully will sell fairly easy

And not at all haha, power is addictive! Need to break the 300 mark, the sooner the better haha

The site is so slick Andy - didn't know you could do that - fantastic feature.

Another option is Ktec (wait lol)....

They have an RB R26.R (very rare car in that colour), that particular one was running 400 with a proper forged engine...they took it out....it must be somewhere ... ;) worth giving them a call - ask to speak to David, and ask him about the forged engine from the racing blue R26.R..if anything will confirm how well priced Josh's lump is...

Only thing is k-tec don't seem to be cheap! I know there's no way to forge an engine properly for cheap but I'm trying to run on a budget of £2,000! Is this possible or am I being stupid?

£2000 is going to be very tight. I think you will just be able to do rods and pistons , no cam , and I think you will have to build it yourself for that cash TBH buddy.

Having said that , call RS tuning. Paul was doing a deal for £1500 odd for the rods , standard pistons and it rebuilt. Might be worth a haggle ?

Will give him a ring! What are the standard pistons and cams good to run power wise?

Yeah just spoke to him, for a basic build £4000 plus Vatican will achieve mid 300's anything more he said around £9000 plus vat! Think I will aim for the mid 300's and be happy with that haha

I think you need a bigger budget unless your going to do the work yourself mate. Buy a banger and take it iff the road for a short period and get it pulled to bits :)

I probably should to be honest! But I don't really want to take it off the road and would take me too long to build myself, if I can get all the parts could have it in and out of a garage in a week

For the level of power you are looking, you need the following:

- Forged rods
- New gaskets for the rebuild
- APR conrod bolts
- If you are not chaging pistons, you can just buy new rings
- Fuel inyectors (660cc Siemens Deka)

This is are the minimun requirements for an hybrid turbo setup.

If you want to run safer add the following:
-Forged pistons
-New bearings or improvedd bearings
-Performance intake/exhaust valves
-New oil pump

For further performance improvement:
- Camshaft set (catcams 401 or 402)
- ARP bolts for the rest of the engine (head, lower engine assy)
- Uprated cam springs

If you have questions I can assist you. I have build several F4R forged engines in Mexico.
