which do you think is the best way to remove the gearbox from the car without removing the engine in an r19 16valve with tin sump?any piece of advice would be helpful...
i've done many miles though since then and nothing bad seemes to happen...anyway i don't have any other alternative than leave it there because in order to find it i would have to dismandle the entire box to get there.it's a jb3-028 anyway so baybe i would like to try something shorter...
Not sure if you can take the gearbox out of the car without dropping the subframe.in witch case you might aswell pull the engine out aswell.its possible to replace the clutch and/ or crank seal without taking the box out. Its a tight job tho
Lowering the subframe on the gearbox side wil do the job, don't forget to losen and remove the bolt from the steering-rack to the steering wheel.
In my trackday-19 16V it's possible in about 4 hours to change the gearbox, but that car doesn't have al the plastic parts like a street car behind the fenders.. and.. clean nuts and bolts..
thanks chris..it's a lhd. So i suppose the best way to do it is to clear the gearbox area as much as possible and lift the gearbox upwards to remove it from the engine bay without touching the subframe and the engine..yes?remember that we are talking about 16v with tin sump so there won't be any gearbox studs etc etc...
ah yes i remember these two studs..the one is near the starter.the other at the front often comes off with the nut..with laguna f-engines i remove the gearbox with these studs on but then again on laguna the subframe is not a problem..But for 19 it will probably be easier with the studs removed..
Which way out is the easiest for the final removal of the box then..?i think from above...:?
