QUICKSILVER SPORT or SUPERSPORT

New Member
Hi,

I am gonna buy a Quicksilver exhaust for my V6, but I don't know if sport or supersport. I only use my car on weekends. I think the sound of supersport is better, but I am worried if it is too much loud. I appraciate your answers.

Thanks

I went for sport.

Many on here found the Supersport to be too much.

Upto you in the end, but i'd be cautious. QS sport is loud anyway. Supersport is just sport with NO baffles.

If you drive any distance i'd say go for the sport.

HOWEVER, you could get one of scotty's perspex bulkheads and go for the supersport. I reckon (untested) that it could be the ideal solution. All the noise outside / window down, but none of the pain!

FTR I moved to Janspeed purely for more power (as its a full system with no cats).

What are the scott's bulckeads??

Scott is the guy who runs SGMotorsport (one of the few v6 specialists in the country). He previous supplied some removable perspex bulkheads with help from another Forum user on here (ray). He may be able to help with getting one. However as Tim suggests it may not be possible as they have to be made to order as Scott doesn't keep any in stock.

Just an idea...

Good luck

Hi miguel,

JFYI.......

The bulk heads are produced by Ray and not Scott as previously stated. The bulk heads were given to Scott to sell which he did at the time and now has none of them.

If you need a bulkhead email Ray and he will supply you one as he owns the moulds and not Scott.

Peter sorry for your confusion and i hope that helps to clarify.........

Tim

Cheers! :approve:

Sorry about my english ( I am from Spain) but I don't know what does BULKHEAD mens. Which part does it means? could you explain me in other words?

Thanks a lot

In this instance we are refering to a perspex sheet that fits from the front edge of the engine cover (just behind netted the luggage "shelf") to the headlining, and across to the sides of the car. It completely closes off the area over the engine cover as it seals all the way around. In that way it reduces engine noise inside the front of the car.

IMO as the droaning noise from the QS zorst at certain speeds is due to the resonant (noise) characteristics of the car it would be greatly reduced by such a device.

If you have a search on here you can probably find some pics.

Cheers

Thank you Peter, now I understand what you mean. I think this is a good solution to resolve the noise problem. Last week I ordered the QS supersport and it would arrive this week. I am worried because I have read also in cliov6passion.fr the Supersport is too loud and I don't know what to do. The first option is fit the exhaust when I recive it and feel how much loud is; the second is to speak with the dealer and back the exhaust to change it by the sports one (the problem is I have to pay the shippment back to UK and then the resending to Spain). I only use my car on weekends but I wouldn't like to be MAD MAX in my city.

Nonsense! I've got the Super Sport and its awesome. Sport is for sissy's :) :)

If you only drive it at weekend anyway you will be fine!

Miguel,

The "Sports" is very loud too, my friend.
There is no "model type" dilemma here - either you like the noise or you don't.

I personally thought the soundtrack was FANTASTIC up to 90kph but irritating upwards of that.

Best thing is to try it for a few months and, if you don't like it, sell it back to a member on here.
If the pound make any sort of recovery against the euro by then, you might even make money on it.

Here you go Miguel, this is what a bulkhead looks like:

This clear screen really does what it is meant to do. :D

The reduction in sound is second to none, its not until you open the window that you remember that you have the loud exhaust on.

Highly recommended. :approve:

Congrats mate and glad you enjoy the sound of it. I had mine out over the weekend and loved it with the window down (apart from the cold). Not sure your girlfriend would be too happy though!!

i cant help but be tempted by the sound of the supersport after reading mixed reviews... dont suppose anyone round notts area has one fitted do they? bit of a long shot! haha

Ive a supersport, and while it does sound awsome I dont drive the car every day. Jainy had one and uses her Vee every day and it actually damaged her hearing which I can belive. You get a real dron from the exhaust when cruising at about 70mph.

To be fair to mine I have no cats on the down pipes and where the collector box should be there are 2 small silencers so if you have all cats and collector box may be different but dought it.

Looking back at the choice I made getting it, if given the option knowing how loud they are I would still chose the Supersport. :approve:

Im in Northampton Addz if you fancy a burn down the M1 although give me a couple of weeks got a few running issues at the moment. (not with the exhaust)
