Quicksilver Question - Please help its driving me mad!

I had mine fitted professionally...
it was way out of alignment.

In the end, we warmed the zorst up and "leaned" on the collector box pipes until alignment was achieved.
A bit drastic maybe...
To this day I do not know whether the problem stemmed from the bespoke nature of the Vee's collector box or my (former) QS backbox.
(When I reverted to the OEM backbox everything was fine.)

Fortunately most guys didn't have as much grief (hence the differing advice that's apparent in this thread). :thumb

WARNING - to all those considering getting a QS exhaust

i had a customer wanting his new QS fitting to his V6 last week, to say the quality was crap would be an understatement, it had been manufactured by someone who was either pissed or in a coma

the pipes (either side going into the box) were 20mm off, and the hangers were wonky and around 40mm off (compared to the OE box) plus the tailpipes were at the wrong angle

if you do decide to buy one CHECK it next to your OE one before fitting it, also get your head checked, £700 for that is beyond a rip-off, its criminal!

I agree with the price of them as NO siencer is with £700. However the quality of mine really is second to none. Maybe they are letting standards slip a little these days.

Yes, £700 is a bit steep, but second hand they are good value, they take a bit of imagination to fit properly but I did this for the sound, and I think it sounds fantastic, although I dont think I'd hack it if the vee was my daily drive, how the Super Sport owners cope i'll never know!

We don't!!! lmao

I have to say from my point of view, £700 for what I received and Fred tried to fit was nothing short of a joke. The welds look like someone had done them whilst doing star jumps, and the alignment looked like their jig had shrunk in the wash.

It and Ktec's standard one have gone back to Quicksilver for them to work out why it's so bad, but I've said I don't want it any more as if that sort of thing gets through their quality control then it should cost £200-300, not £700.

Ktec's *STANDARD* backbox has gone to Quicksilver, not Ktec's aftermarket backbox. I'm not taking my car off the road because someone's jig's wrong - Ktec have done that. Quicksilver are going to try and work out why, frankly, the finish was shit.

Sorry Steve - I had no idea it was solely down to the back box. If you also had some alignment probs, then it shows that QS had some quality control issues with their manufacturing tolerances.
Glad you got it sorted. Mine was fine after "collector pipe" adjustment. :thumb

Righty!

Just spoken to QuickSilver exhausts who were unaware of the 'issues' we had with fitting them and messing with all the hangars, and they're looking at 're-doing' their works. Whilst I'm not able to be a 'guinea pig' (he took offence to me suggesting that they'd need one?! Bit odd as I only meant it in that I couldn't take it to bits a few times to get it right!) someone may be able to.

I'm waiting to hear from K-Tec but as yet I'm to hear about refund, but hey ho. The upshot is QuickSilver are now aware of this issue and will be looking at both the quality and fit of the exhausts and they're making a new jig at the moment to resolve this - once this is complete then all future exhausts made by QuickSilver (not the ones in stock at K-Tec - not sure what will happen with that, that's someone else's decision I'm sure!) will be to the new Jig.

Hope this helps people... :thumb
