Quickshift and Cage?

Hi all,

Im reasonably new to the world of clio v6's, actually purchasing one this Saturday but I used to be one of the big boys from the SSC, running a supercharged saxo etc. The plan is going to be pretty similar to v6 but at the moment I am struggling to find places that sell full roll cages and not found anywhere that sells a quickshift for them. I used to have a TAS one which was not just a replacement linkage but an actual boss around the stick which could then be fully adjustable and also gave a much stronger feeling to the gear change, not too mention looks nicer when they are stripped out which mine will soon be. Any body got any advice on the above?

Cheers Guys and Girls.

Bearing in mind the box can easily be beaten and the synchro crashed without a quickshift and getting a new box is just a tad more than expensive and difficult than with a Saxo you might want to spend the money elsewhere. Weak link is the clutch and then the diff housing - fix the first and the second will explode on the line - mk2 boxes have better housings which helps.

Cages from Scott are the mutts and custom built or you can get Clio Rally cages like V6max.

Safety Devices have the drawings for the original cages from TWR.

Good luck and I have a spare gearbox when you need it

Mike

Cheers for you advise guys, I had heard the boxes were not the most robust of items and on the saxo ended up having to put a quaife LSD in there because the MA boxes where pretty appalling once the car became anything but standard. What clutch do you recommend Mike? I previously used Helix and AP paddle clutches.

Seems there are a few places to get the cages from then, so will get in touch and see what they have to offer cheers.

Just a quick note re the cage; mine is a hybrid - Clio Rally mixed with bespoke bits, it's not dissimilar to the one TRW1 has had done by Scott just some subtle differences in the construction of the rear part of the cage and the triangulation to the front towers.

If you can cope with the practicalities of living with a "proper" cage then do it

:-) Too true no practicalities at all but the difference it makes to the handling is worth the contortionist skills required!

Yer im happy with a completely impractical cage, I have been use to it the past and like said the extra rigidity that gives the chassis is well worth it so long as it out ways the extra weight from it.

Have emailed scott about a cage so just waiting for him to get back to me :)
