Quadra written off!

M

Messcort mk2

A friend of my brothers has just written off his 21 Quadra!! The blue one that was on pistons heads not all that long ago was bought by my brother's mate and he wrote it off last night...with my brother in the car.....not impressed!!

To be fair...shed was a good way to describe it up close....gaffer tape sunroof, all the window trims were bubbling badly, rear of the passenger doors were rusted badly....list goes on.

I'm going to see whether the engine is available, pretty sure the interior would be intact. It only happened last night and he's going to claim on the insurance which is probably a pretty bad move seeing as the guy is only 20.

Think the three passengers, including my bro, have whip lash of varying degrees but yea pretty much all ok.

Insurance claim is a bad move. Book values are WAY low, he'll lose out bigtime when it comes to reinsuring something.

He should cut his losses!

BITSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. lol.

I hope everybody is ok though.

Box and rear diff ta. any else from the drive train, rear brakes etc.

rear sub frame if its not twisted. if the rear end is still intact i could do with some other stuff.

Tell him to give me a call on 07900818788.

Well he has to buy it back off the insurance first I think, not sure how these things work, but by the sound of it the diff has fully had it, spilling diff oil everwhere so yea guessing its had it. If thats fully gone then I thing the subframe would be gone too, will give him your no. though if you like.

If the diff has took a nasty shunt then I don't think much of the drive train would be any good :(

DO NOT CLAIM!

I had a similar situation, wrote off my phase 1, girl I went to pick up ended up claiming against me - cut long story short I got the car off the scene quick time without the police turning and didnt tell insurance company.

they rang me stating the girl had claimed, didnt deny it but it took them so long to sort it I had moved company by the time they got back to me. as far as I am concerned it didnt happen.

Obviously upon getting new insurance I have 0 no-claims but dont have an accident against my policy

Yea sounds like the right move, when my bro wrote off his mk1 MR2 we drove the car back, banana shaped no less, back home and didn't claim or anything. Sold the car in bits for more than we paid for it, so yea win win...
We've told this guy what to do, whether he listens or not is a different story

as soon as he claims the premium will go through the roof book price you will be lucky to get a grand minus your excees at his age prob 500 quid .

I'm sure BigMVS/Martin was offered ?75 by his insurance company when his quadra went up in smoke

Martains first offer was ?75, then they found an agreed value form so had to pay out that amount.

I would break it and try and claw back any monry i could. DON'T bother claiming.

Heyup all, still here lurking:icon_lol:

Yep was offered a low sum at first, think it was a really low offer can't remember exact amount. Then they said it was an agreed value of ?2,000 which they paid out minus the excess. I never did this though and it was only the amount I quoted whey they say "what is the current market value of the car" which I said ?2k (which it wasnt really in reality). So I was lucky really.

Talking of Stu, he has driven his K plate Quadra recently and the ABS regulator has packed up, is it Quadra specific or will a 2WD one do? If not has anyone got one:icon_wink:?

You can use a 2wd one but the bracket is different. You'll need to cut an extra bit off and weld it on to the 2wd bracked to hold the pneumatic difflock gubbins.
