QS Exhaust Question

Hi Guys,

Some of you may have noticed a few messages I sent around about the boomyness of my exhaust. Some one suggested to me that the exhaust that K-Tec fitted might have been the QS SuperSports hence the boom!

Having never heard the Supersports inside the car I really don't know. I remember K-Tec having a discussion in the office about sending out wrong types to people in the post and mentioning my name. He shortly after seemed to be convinced that no mistake had been made.

Are there any pictures/signs of which one it is please?

Please excuse the daft question as I know there is supposed to be a huge difference!!!

Cheers,
Phil.

Here are some Quicksilver OMG pics for you to compare with yours ...

Hi Phil,

Unfortunately my QS sport looks exactly the same as the above.

I would of thought the only difference is the internals or lack of them!!!???

I've got a QS sports and it is "boomy". Interally there are a few more baffles than with the supersports, externally they look identical.
Ideally the product could've been better developed... but it still remains a far better product than the OEM backbox IMHO.

I have got the "quieter" exhaust and it is IMO very loud and "boomy", especially compared with other cars lol. Your best bet is to probably try and find someone with the OMG exhaust and compare, I would love to hear the noisy exhaust if mine is the quiet one :s

I've had both, you'll know if you have the loud one as your ears will bleed at around 2-3k rpm [smilie=drunken_smilie1.gif]

My 6 year old refuses to get in mine since I fitted the OMG....so I guess there are some advantages?

Dear all,

I have the standard exhaust on my MkII.

I want to fit something louder, I only drive tha car accasionally.

Which exhaust make / model would you recommend?

The options are as follows: (as far as I'm aware!)

- Quicksilver Sports exhaust is great but not too loud. Great pops and bangs. Lightweight too. A bit boomy at 3500rpm. Available either 2nd hand or via K-Tec racing.
- Quicksilver SuperSports exhaust. Similar to Sports (above), but much louder and more boomy and certainly not suitable for a daily drive (so will be good for you).
- K-Tec Backbox: Very good reviews on here. Loud, but not too boomy inside.
- SG Motorsport: Custom exhaust from Scott (V6 specialist). More expensive and great as part of full Clio V6 upgrade.
- Janspeed: I haven't heard a huge amount about these, but I hear the quality is great. Can go for the full de-cat or just backbox option.

Maybe some members on here with the others can give you a bit more of a personal opinion, but I love the Quicksilver Sports exhaust. I've had it for a year now and I love it!

I hope this helps, and welcome to the forum! :approve:

Great! Thank you!
The original is a bit too quiet.
Do you know where I could get a hold of a Quicksilver sports or supersports second hand? What should I expect to pay?
Thanks!

Yeah I agree, the OEM is quiet!

I paid about £550 for mine as part of a group buy new.

I think you could pick up a Sports/SuperSports exhaust for between 200 and 350 second hand, depending on the deal you get.

They sometimes go for sale here in the 'For Sale' section. Else try eBay? Sometimes they even pop up on PH.

You could post a message elsewhere as there's someone sometimes trying to get rid of their SuperSports model as it can get a bit loud!!!

Good luck!

ps., check out YouTube for some sample vids to get your appetite going :)

Phil,

Do you have to go for a full system to get any real performance gains, I like what people say about the orbisoud system, just the cost is loads.

Ive been thinking pipercross, back box or full system? with high flow cats so I can keep it on for the mot and the rstuner?

Would that give a noticable change in performance? Many thanks

I heard that the Janspeed is the same as supplied to K-Tec allegedly...so would say thats the best deal at 270 for backbox
