hi all
thought id make a progress thread on my mums renault clio, it will slowly be getting modified but nothing too extreme just simple subtle mods
heres the story so far
we went to a car auction in search of a smaller car as she had a smash in her old car and she lost all of her no clames bonus and couldn't afford the insurance on her old car (hyundai accent coupe)
at the auctions there were many cars she was interested in including golfs and corsas but the one that stuck out was car number 1, a bright metallic blue renault clio rn club med

when the auction started i was the first to put my hand up and for a moment i was winning it for £20
but then another person came in and i eventually got it for £250 still not bad though i thought :lol:
picture of it just after the auction in the car park

[BREAK=problems]
when i fired it up for the first time there was somthing different from when i last heard it... a missfire:evil:
it was doing it on idle randomly then it would do it when you pulled off and it would hesitate untill you built up some speed which was actually kind of dangerous
we tried everything to fix it including ht leads,spark plugs, new sensors and cleaning the carb but none of it worked so we got a second hand coil pack for it just to try and fired it up and no missfire
to this day still no missfire
the next problem was the handbrake which...well, didnt work :roll: had a look and both cables were stretched but not enough to kill the handbrake completely, so i got the drums off the rear and i found to my surprise nearly all of the material had work away on the shoes
so i changed the shoes and the handbrake worked
the last problem was baled tyres but that was easily fixable with some onle wheels i had in the shed off a clio rl prima, the tyres on them were nearly new:mrgreen:
[BREAK=how it is today...]
things i have done to it up to date are
new wheel trims
new mats
"S" badges for the bumpstrips
repaired horrendous rust on the rear arches
renault decals for the side where the williams badge would go if it was a williams, which its not:lol:
replaced dash bulbs (old ones were blown)
fitted new mirror as old one was broken
" renault clio" decal for the back window in a subtle black
and a nice air freshner
pictures of how it is now (excuse the dirt
)

also got this waiting to go on, it came of the car the "S" badges came off, i think it will look quite nice

plans for the future are
wind deflectors
paint mirror caps in blue
change interior
fix dials(rev counter not workind)
maybe paint renault badge black
new door or repair the one thats on it (got a dent similar to my renault 19 before i repaired it)
chrome tail trim but nothing big just to make it look nice
little black clio badges for the mirrors
rt/16v double din dash with the cubbyhole and clock
possibly blue dash bulbs
any ideas on other things to do welcome as im stuck for ideas apart from the above lol
[BREAK=spoiler]
got the spoiler fitted today, still in need of a flat and polish but will look brilliant when done

and the new seats

cost £30 for all of it, its out of a 19 so will need some work on the back to fit but im well happy:mrgreen:
[BREAK=interior]
got the interior fitted this weekend
was very hard work as it was out of a 19 so the rear seats needed to be modified on to the clio frames and the front seats needed drilling to fit on to the clio subframes but got it in in the end, only got the one pic but more will be up soon

and a couple of the car clean
