So to get the sump to fit in, the subframe needed some modification. With teaching myself to weld i was able to do this myself, and although its not pefect im chuffed with how well its come out.
Next on the to do list is to fit a different master cylinder so i can route the brake pipes in a better way as one of the 133 ones comes a little too close to downpipe.
Just got to buy all the pipe and tools 1st!
So if you check the skim links section youll see what tools and pipework i purchased to fit a different master cylinder. I acquired a new Peugeot master cylinder from @Mark_L which would allow me to run my pipework away from the downpipe. By routing the way i have ive easily gained 50mm and also allows a better shape heatshield.

With hhe help of a friend ive now sourced a GT ecu and uch which can or should be able to manage the gordini climate control, auto lights and headlights. Im hoping it can use the cruise control and traction control too. Not that i need any of this, but creature comforts make long drives easier. And once this build is complete i hope to get out in it a fair bit
Engine test fit no2, engine fitted in just nicely, slotted into the notch i made just right, chuffed with myself with that accomplishment. Next fitment issue is the gearbox mount, fitted in normal position the gearbox rests on the subframe, if i raise the rubber bushing up with spacers then it conflicts with the gear change mechanism.
I have a couple ideas to try and hopefully i can make it work without any fabrication.
Fitting the engine i managed to dent the bonnet with the engine crane, so thats a windscreen and a bonnet ive unnecessarily got to replace. Sometimes when i come across issues or i cause damage or get more costs i start to lose motivation, but then i look at some other builds and i know theyve had issues too. And then i look at finished builds and it gives me the motivation to carry on.
If anyone thinks a reliable meg swap with ndo into a twingo is cheap and easy, i can assure you its not.
I think the gearbox mount and shifter problem is sorted now. Sourced a megane 225 short shifter (engine dynamics one i believe) and fitted that as well as modifying the gearbox mount with a dremel and an angle grinder, and now all seems to have clearence. The box is off the subframe and the shifter can select all gears.
Ive labeled up and started splitting a gt loom.
Little bit concerned that the ndo is so different to a gt gearbox that the crank/tdc sensor wont work. The sensor from a meg and twingo are different, im hoping i can cut and join the wires and it works as it should.
The gearbox speed sensor is different too, im guessing i can do the same with that too.
Next big tasks are dogbone mount, and downpipe as the downpipe i have atm has a flexy in it and it pushes against the steering rack and wont bolt up to the turbo properly.
If the engine and box are the match pair from the Megane, then you need to check that the flywheel reset point (60-2?) is at the same BTDC angle as the original engine/box package. It wont matter where the trigger sits on the bellhousing.
I can't see it being different to be honest, it's a standard pattern. The flywheel will then be oriented to suit the sensor position. You should be fine.
