Production numbers, plaque - missing cars and update.

Good stuff indeed Duncan. :approve:

Owners of Vees with ID packs will be quite pleased with this info. Kett, floe.90

Yours must be worth more than your investment property now! ;)
Can you post a pic of your interior? is it blue or grey? I looked on your images but I can only see the last 15 and there's not an interior pic.

Good work Duncan.

Any ideas yet on how to represent it all?!

That is a very good question. Ultimately, the register is going to have it all in it, once I have finished collating the data, I need to spend a couple of months on the register completing every bit of data I have into it. Update the stats (or perhaps add a new set of stats leaving the published ones there?).

I want to spend time analysis the data obtained, this was the idea from the start, but the actual collating was a much bigger task than I anticipated so I have almost forgotten about the end goal.

I should be able to fill in a lot of blanks such as what factory plaque numbers were for UK cars, or for cars that are missing them and then, the next project is to see if I can write it all up in a factual book and look into the possibly of providing certificates of authenticity.

That is lovely. Is it dark grey? matches the plastics perfectly. Is it the complete pack over the engine too? Then I'll be REALLY jealous :)

'Yes' to dark grey and 'yes' to matching the plastics and 'yes' is the complete pack... don't be jealous though - The actual V6 Clio experience is quite similar. :approve:

Excellent and Yes I'm only jealous when it's stationary and I can see the engine cover ;)

A little update, the club now has full DVLA data for all UK V6s. This has helped my chassis number project massively as I can see every registration plate each car has ever worn, which makes tying up old photos much easier!

A few UK Phase 2 stats, correct as of 01/09/17:

located so far:
347 registered new in the UK
of these 347
- 16 have been scrapped
- 50 have been exported

that leaves 281 on the road in the UK.

59 of these 347 are recorded as insurance write offs (CAT-D to A) a whopping 17%!
note that 17 of these insurance write offs have been exported.

the totals of each colour found so far:
AY - 8
BG - 74
DB - 1
IB - 181
IR - 2
LY - 20
LG - 4
MR - 18
MB - 1
TS - 38
so thats 2 more LYs than Renaults sales figures
1 more titanium
10 less Illiads

I don't expect to find any more UK cars, but will keep looking and will try and track these 10 illiads down.
Possibly 10 went to southern Ireland so don't show up on UK databases?

I have excluded prototypes/development cars from these numbers as these were not official production cars.

I will do a similar exercise for the phase 1s and post again when finished.

Great news you have access to DVLA. well done. Nearly 15% exported is astonishing. It's funny how the French never appreciated a local hero until after it had gone out of production and years later realised that there is more to cars than access to cheap diesel fuel ;)

It sounds like you're getting even closer to a definitive register, Duncan, and that's great for the club, the car and the owners.
How do you go about getting access to the DVLA information? I'm thinking of this for another type of car.

Fantastic work as ever Duncan.

Looks like the LY became more common and Illiad got a touch rarer :-)

...which must therefore be reflected in updated resale values... ;)

Ha Ha, indeed :)

Do we know how many LY's are actually in the UK right now? We know that at least one made it to Australia....

back to 18!

One in Oz, one in Jersey.

A few UK Phase 1 stats, correct as of 01/09/17:

located so far:
315 registered new in the UK
of these 315
- 18 have been scrapped
- 61 have been exported

that leaves 236 on the road in the UK.

81 of these 315 are recorded as insurance write offs (CAT-D to A) - 25% of them!
22 of these insurance write offs have been exported.

So 59 of the 236 cars left are insurance write offs - still 25%!

The totals of each colour found so far:
IS - 282
IB - 8
MR - 25

Tat's 59 more Iceberg Silver cars than Renault's sales figures - likely due to the number of cars with non UK plaques that didn't go through Renault UK's books.

Again, I have excluded prototypes/development cars from these numbers as these were not official production cars. I have also not included LHD cars that have been imported here. These cars tend to come and then go elsewhere after a year or two so shouldn't really affect the overall numbers significantly.

50 further RHD phase ones were made, these went to overseas from new to places such as New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. But they were all built to UK spec.

So there are 45 more UK production phase 2s than phase 1's physically in the UK - 17% more.

Original post now updated with latest position. Only 3 ph2s to find, but lots of plaque numbers still missing.
