Price for fitting an induction kit?

I've bought a BMC CDA but I'm not looking forward to fitting it, I'll probably screw it up.

I'm taking my car to a local garage anyway this weekend to get the steering checked, so I'm thinking I could just get them to fit it.

Anyone know how much it might be to get it fitted?

I would obviously take the engine covers off before going as well.

If your taking the covers off you might asweel fit it, TBH its really not that hard, Just undo two jubilee clips remove old filter (just pulls out) Put the new one in, bend the bracket and oila fitted.

The longest part is taking the covers off.

The problem with driving with the covers off is

1.The noise
2.The heat
3.It drags all the dust and shit up off the road and fires it around in the cockpit.

Yeah if you come across any probs we're here to help so to speak, Ive every confidence you wont have any.

If when installing it you find the pipe that goes to the intake 2 small do what the majority have on here and just put it inside the exsiting tube and tighten.

Good luck

Dennis

What type of screw heads do you need to get the bolts off the covers?

I have t10, t15, and t20 but they are too small.

Going to Halfords today to get some proper Torx bits.

Can't wait much longer - so eager to get this thing in my car!!

From memory I think you need T15 and T25 - the majority of the bolts are the smaller ones

Ok, I've got the covers off but I can't fit the kit.

Here's the deal I can't fit the bmc to the engine intake. In the above shot it just doesn't fit.

The only way I can get it fitted is to use the red tubing, but this makes it awkward to position the air intake tube.

Can anyone offer any much needed advice? I'm totally stuck here.

Edit: deleted pictures as its all cool now. :)

if i remember rightly when i fitted mine bout a year ago, take the short hard plastic elbow off and push the filter into where the jubilee clip is, its pretty straight forward, oh tip for ya 2, when u push the filter on put a bit of washing up liquid on the filter/hose so it slides in easier

Thats, I'm giving up. If you take the black elbow off you still can't fit it.

I also thought I figured it out that I could use the red metal connecter. The red metal connector fits fine to the egnie hose but it doesn't fit the bmc!! :?

I'm taking teh car to a garage 2moro to get my creaking, cracking noise checked which is for the wheels, soI'l see if they have any luck fitting the induction kit too.

So fucking pissed off :x

I don't know if it helps but I have some aluminium sticky tape that the ventilation guys use to seal leaks - it's great for sealing pipes - it's about 3 inch wide. If you had a shorter red pipe and used this tape to seal round both ends it might work OK. If you want some then let me know.

I managed to get it done in the end. I had to use the reducer and clamp it very tight. What an idiot.

Was panicking a bit as you can probably tell but I persevered and managed to get it done in the end. Took ages getting all the covers back on too.

Had a wee drive and it sounds awesome.

:D

Its because I forgot about the reducer. It was easy when I used that.

Man, it felt like sex when I finally got the kit on after all that pissing around for so long. Will be along time before I take the covers off again, thats for sure. :)

I've got the pipercross kit on mine and it sounds awesome from the outside! Only a little louder inside..........Not sure what the quality of the BMC kit is like but the piper isn't great.

I too have the pipercross filter and the induction roar over 5500 rpm is fantastic. Not too difficult to fit 2 hrs yesterday. Pitty the engine is completely enclosed, otherwise the shiny new "can" looks great
