plip/ECU immobiliser

Ok so we know that some later ECUs are matched to the plip which disarms the immobiliser.

BUT... what happens if you use a later plip receiver with an earlier non immobiliser ECU? Does it still work (as in, unlock the doors)?

What about if you put it in a car that has no ECU? Just works and unlocks the doors right?

Should be getting an earlier one come through this week hopefully for mine.

Will try it when it arrives and let you know, which reminds me I have still got that other ecu of yours.

it won't work. Its been covered a gagillion times. Those ones the receiver is just a receiver its the BIC that says its matches and unlocks the doors. The early one have a totally different board and its matched to the board. The later ones the receiver is interchangable with other cars as its not coded.

Neal just join the dark side and fit an aftermarket alarm.

Much better range than the PLIP and also you can impress your mates with remote starting, and annoy your neighbours when the alarm goes off at 6am on a sunday

Exactly Chris. That's what has thus far stopped me from getting an alarm etc installed on the 19.

I dont want someone else removing bits of the interior of my car and chopping the wiring around. Stuff could get broken/left out/put back wrong.

there.s a place that i've heard good things about, western something or other. But i can see you not going for that option tbh
