Hello.

Has anyone with a MK1 V6 used spacers (front and rear) with the standard 17" V6 alloys? Like most people do when adding spacers to the Mk2 wheels to sit flush with arches.

If so could someone please post a picture. Not seen this done before and I personally think the 18"s wouldn't be needed if the original wheels sat right in the 1st place?

Thanks, Piers.

Jay posted many moons ago about spacing his out. I managed to rescue some pictures. LINK

Thankyou James. Looks really well with the spacers, and as I thought.. No 18"s needed imo ;)

so it's 10mm front and 25mm rear?

does look good with spacers!!

I prefer the look of the 18s, but the 17s do still look the part :)

No no :( lol. Just dreaming still ATM Matt. Just tryin to Convince myself I would happy with a Mk1 V6 tbh, was hoping to hold out for a Mk2 but don't think I could afford one just yet. Either a Mk1 or wait another year! :(

currently racing my inferno 255 on forza3 ATM.. LOL!

I'm in the same position at the moment (minus playing Forza)

MkI does look hugely diffrent with spacers, I like :)

It's win win really with spacers (cheaper tyres!), all that is needed is a refurb. To give them a real good silver finish n it's job done!

If I was to rush in this year i would be VERY tempted for the MK1 V6 (red or blue only mind), but also for the same money you can get a brilliant example 147 GTA Which is also tempting.. But I can't stop thinking about the MK2 255 V6! But It's an extra £3-4k n around an extra £600 on insurance over the MK1 V6 and 147 GTA.

im amazed the mk2 v6 is £600 more on insurance!!! last time i looked there was nothing in it between the two.

thats more than i payed for insurance on my mk1 vee, and that was at 25 with 3 years no claims.

From personal experience, you wouldnt be dispointed if you got a mk1 vee instead of amk2 and you could always upgrade to a mk2 after it. Its not like you will loose any value on the car!! Just make sure the belts are done if your on a budget :approve:

yea i did love your old MK1 you sold to my cusin jamie. its that car that has made me want one ever since he had it. i loved it!

this is true about upgrading at a later date. prob the best idea to be honest! and like you say, i wouldnt be buying unless belts were done.

when are you planning on buying another V6? Mk1 or Mk2?

I am hoping to buy later on the year. Am just buying a house so all my money I'd being piled into that at the mo.

Ive given it alot if thought, and to be honest I don't think I mind whether it's mk1 or mk2!!
As long as it in top nick, hpi clear, low mileage and with top notch service history. Not fussed about colour (although I do have fav's!!).

I'd rather have a mint mk1 over a poor/average mk2.

A few nice mods might help seal it too!!

Can't wait to have one again!!!

Same boat as you Piers... saving like a man possessed at the minute for a Vee, curently have a MK2 172. Oddly im starting to prefer the Mk1 vee.... is it me or is the front end abit more aggressive?

Its abit of a challenge as im trying to do up the VW camper i bought just before chrimbo last year....
