Phase 2 #288 at Mannheim Auctions last week

This stunner was traded into Poole Mercedes for £26K. Number 288, with just 20K miles, piles of paperwork and original keys, books etc.

I tried to buy it from them for £28K. Their policy is to send all P/Xs to auction, so I traipsed up to Mannehim at Wimbledon to see it make £38.5K at the hammer. Add a £750 odd buyers premium, it was too dear for me.

Oh... Just found out my subscription has expired and I can't upload photos....

Wow! Would have been an absolute bargain had you managed to get [v6plaque]288[/v6plaque] for £28,000.

The hammer price at £38,500 also appears to be the right ballpark.

Pity that the owner didn't get the car valued first, but it seems that [v6plaque]288[/v6plaque] was listed on eBay for £33,395 in July 2015, then reduced to £30K in January 2016 - may be a touch ambitious back then, especially since the seller was willing to accept £26K, but certainly not in June 2017!

People do seem to be suffering from auction fever these days. It doesn't sound any different to the lovely one that Thomas has just bought from 4 star classics ( don't know about the service record on the auction car ) which was also 20k miles and titanium yet listed at £32k for 6 months. maybe people these days think they don't want to pay a dealer his profit and think they are always getting a bargain at auction. Obviously that's not always the case but looks like [mention=5443,#000000]v4v6[/mention] did get a bargain ;) .
