CAT C, but not a bad price if everything else stacks up: LINK

"All glass & wheels are originals. I was a bit wary about buying it as I had never bought a cat c car but this is very straight.. It must of been something financially to put it on cat c"

V6 Register states the following about [v6plaque]038[/v6plaque]:
"Car had professional repair to o/s of vehicle in 2006, no structural or mechanical damage, mainly cosmetic"

Seems like a good, clean example.........

I totally agree Dulan. The seller has just put photos up showing the damage that was done to make it a Cat C write off, and it's virtually cosmetic only. If this was a Porsche, an E Type, Lotus Cortina or Healey from the 60s, and this was the only repair it had ever had, it would be hailed as one of the most original cars of it's type in the world!!

The stigma attached to Cat C and D, for the Clio V6 at least, seems to be totally unjustified.

Here are the photos for posterity! Damage at the end.

Good call Mark.

Cant believe this Vee was declared a write-off for such superficial damage!

Has anyone been to view [v6plaque]038[/v6plaque]?

I purchased my car knowing full well it was a cat d. I was dubious at first but after viewing the car and now owning it over 2 years in really glad I chose the car.
The detail Steve put into it was amazing and if/ when I have to sell one of my clios id probably choose to keep the technical grey.

If in the flesh the car above looks and drives good id see it as being a bargain and a cheap way into owning a classic.

Cat C usually means structural damage, cat D is cosmetic, even so there was about £6 k of panels at Renault´s exorbitant prices required to fix this!
