Ph2 ID Alcantara headliner

Something that will be lost in the annals of time. During my quest to find a suitable alcantara headliner for my Ph1; I was duly advised that the Clio V6 roof contours require a 4-way stretch material. However, the texture of the ID Alcantara is similar to 2-way stretch.

This technically means that the ID alcantara headliner should’ve been prone to sagging. It would’ve been interesting to know what the original ID upholsters’ thought on this subject.

Yes, my ID was fine too.

I imagine the alcantara is glued to a standard headliner. That’s certainly the plan for my Ph1. It’s quite a technical feat that the ID alcantara works so well. Maybe it was a clever material? Maybe ultra-reliable adhesive? Maybe a pre-forming process?

Great picture Adrian. I shows how the 4-way stretch looks to be the sensible option for myself.

I recall something about the glue after an upholsterer screwed up bits in my car the first attempt. Apparently he had opted for the usual cheap spray glue, and it soaked through!

I'd love an alcantara headlining but then I remember I never look at the roof so will manage...
