Ph2 Bonnet - is it a standard clio part ....

thunderstarter

... or particular to the ph2 vee?

Mine has got some dings near the front that a bodyshop will have to repair before painting, it may be cheaper to buy a straight bonnet and then paint/blend into the wings and bumper.

Anyone know how I can find out?

Yup.. its just a standard Clio bonnet Dan. I'd make sure you got a genuine Renault one though ;)

yeah, good point, I was just looking at some non genuine ones on eBay.... I'll keep my eye out on eBay for a genuine Renault one. There is a silver one in Wolverhampton, but I'm
not sure if it'll be titanium or Iceberg, not too much of a problem if it's being painted, but a bodyshop is unlikely to paint the underside of the bonnet, so ideally i'd like it to be as close as possible.

I have same issue on my bonnet, and have just ordered one from Paul @ RPD. Cost 162 inc VAT.

Hi Phil, is yours damaged around the area above the bonnet latch? it looks like a previous owner has had the latch fail on them at some time and they have been forcing the bonnet shut to the point of slamming and denting the bonnet in the process. They are like rippled dents.

Where you getting yours painted?

Cheers

During the last front end respray, they noticed a small amount of filler around the bonnet catch area. I'm not sure what had happened there in the past, but likely catch related.
I didnt like knowing that it was there, so I've ordered a new bonnet ready for the next front end spray, which will probably be later in the year. I'll have it done local to me.

My bonnet catch is fine - I regularly lubricate it !

I think the price from Paul was pretty reasonable. It's got to be the cheapest panel on the car?!

The dents in the bonnet near the catch are a people related issue and is normally down to people pushing the bonnet shut rather than dropping it from a small height - this really annoys me!!!!!

Thats a really good price :approve:

My only concern would be handling during delivery, as bonnets are an awkward item to handle.

Yeah, was very pleased with that!

True about damage potential, but if thats the case then it gets returned!
...Not uncommon with Renault either (not RPD).

Sounds like you need some more lube Shaun!

Be careful what you say around these parts Phil... lol

My bonnet catch is lubed perfectly... and I'll still be dropping it from a very minimal height. ;) They dont dent by themselves.. :primer:

Whoops, I'm guilty of shutting mine incorrectly, but I definitely haven't caused the damage in my car!

I shall try to adopt the 'dropping from a few inches' method!

And I shall defo be ordering one of those bonnets from Paul at RPD later in the year... for the moment I'm gonna concentrate on driving the bloody thing! :-)

cheers guys
