PH 2 Lights on a PH1

Sorry if this has been discussed, cant find it on the search.

My ph1 is undergoing a similar thing to Johnny 5 ( when he got a porno rebuild in short circuit 2 after a kicking )

anyway , I opted for ph2 light but the garage said that they are not compatible and now when you break ... the indicators come on [smilie=yay.gif] .

Not see it so I can only take their word for it, is this the case and is there a way around it ?
