p-zeros

Quick Q:

My back tyres are gone, fronts still have half tread left. P-Zeros on all round. Was just going to buy a pair of P-Zeros for the back again but having no other point of reference I don't know if they're any good. Everybody around here raves about the Pilot Sports, but I'll have mismatching tyres? Will I be let in to Origine RS as this seems like a massive style faux-pas to me?

Can't be arsed ditching the fronts as there's loads of tread left!

I would not recommend miss matching tyres on the same axle but the front and rears u could argue the for and againsts for days. Now u could say that the different compounds will give different levels of grip but both being preium tyres the difference could be very small. u could also argue the waight difference would effect grip levels so it makes no difference, as would the different level of tread have an effect. There r so many variables

When I bought my car the previous owner had brand new budget(?) tyres on all round. No grip, unstable etc.
I put ps3's on the back and hey presto much much better.

My car came with a pair of P Zero Rosso on the rear wheels and a pair of tyres on the front from a manufacturer I had never heard of so I bought a pair of P Zero Rosso for the front as well to replace them and I don't have any complaints, they seem to offer a good balance of dry and wet weather grip.

I've only ever had less than pleasurable experiences with Pirelli.

Never had them on a v6, so cant give any informed in opinion regards your question. I thank you. :troll:

Personally they would have to be all matching front and rear for me, I find a set of fronts genearally last twice as long as the rears on the Vee, so once the fronts are done then if I fancy a different tyre that's the time to change all four.

Lets face it the Vee can be a bit twitchy especially in the wet so why would you introduce another variable by having different makes of tyre front to rear.

Actually I recon P-zero's should be pretty good but maybe not as good as Michelin Supersports.

I'd probably fit some new P-zero's on the rear for now and then next time change all four to the Supersports :)

Pretty much what I wanted to hear!

P-Zeros it is, cheers y'all

Not a great lover of Pirellis as they tend to be more geared for latin road temps and conditions and not the more temperate cold and wet ones we are used to, hard to get them up to a working temp on cold tarmac so adhesion can be iffy. Landrover fitted them as Scorpions to RR and Disco3 and were absolutely crap, no good in wet, dirt or anything other than dry tarmac, wore out in around 5k if driven hard! My Vee arrived on newish, unknown brand tyres with the performance of old shoe leather and swapped ends at the drop of a hat, swapped to Super sports and no problems since even with temps hovering around zero at the moment. Alpins on the Berlingo 4x4 van are outstanding is the really sh17e conditions as well unlike the Contis on the Landie.
Mainly just personal preference though!
