5 GT Turbo Original Tyres?

Hi

i beleive the situation for tyres for you guys is pretty good these days.

We have the Avon 195/55R13 CR27 Turbospeed. This tyre is avaiable and we sell a few, but are you guys happy with that tyre?

Good news is that Michelin are also going to make a 195/55R13 Pilote Exalto, which we hope to have in early 2021.

Apparently Pirelli have also been approached by an R5 GT club who requested a 195/55R13 P700-Z?

I wondered what was the original equipment tyres on these cars?

I also wondered if anyone knew how many of these cars are still on the road world wide, and i guess actually many of these cars now have different size wheels.

The difiiculty is to encourage a tyre manufacturer to make a tyre which doesn't sell. What does no one any favours is if we have 3 manufacturers making tyres for a very small amount of cars, where by the stock then gets old, that way no one gets good service. You don't want to buy old tyres. tyre manufacturers don't want to make tyres that you aren't going to buy.

Just for fun i have attached a picture of my R5 Cleveland Cabriolete. Its not got a Turbo, but its still pretty cool.

Regards

Hi

I'm learning a bit more about these cars and i'm wondering if any of you can help fill in the gaps so i can make this web page properly accurate. Renault 5 Tyres (longstonetyres.co.uk)

I would like to try to confirm sizes and tyre make and if possible tread design of all these models. Any help i can get from you guys i hope will be useful for everyon in the future.

First Generation R5 1972 - 1985 fitted 145R13. My guess is Michelin ZX or XAS does anyone know if they fitted XAS? or differnt tread patterns.
We also have the naturally aspirated Gordini or Alpine Renault 5. I beleive 155/70R13. Do we know what tread pattern? I'm guessing XVS?
1982 Slap a Turbo on it. Why wouldn't you. Call it a R5 Alpine or an R5 GordiniI beleive again 155/70R13? I'm Guessing XVS
Then we have a Renault 5 Turbo oo yeah Stick the engine in the middle and go racing. Simples 190/55VR340 TRX front and 200/60 or 220/55VR365 TRX (we can sill do the 190 & the 220. But he 200 is out of production)
The Mid engines Renault 5 Turbo could also have 13" wheels depending on what it was doing and there are a selection of crazy Fat Michelin TB tyres for this.
1985 we have the second generation cars that have either 145/70R13, 155/70R13 or 165/65R13 tyres on them. This bit gets tricky for us as of this period, because you would specify what wheels you wanted, so standard is no longer standard if you see what i mean.
But then in 1985 we have the Renault 5 GT Turbo which fitted 195/55VR13 Michelin MXV.

If i have missed anything, any additions to what i have that will make my detail more accurate. pictures of door cards with tyre pressures is great. pictures of cars with original tyres are great and just detail about Renault 5 tyre pressures are good.
