Orange engine light. Cylinder misfire.

Hey guys, had an orange engine light come up on the bottom right of dash. Is this emmisions?

I've put a fault code reader on the car and the below came up:

Car felt fine but haven't driven anywhere. I have had the engine covers off and it does sound odd so replace the coil, made no difference as when any of the could are disconnected the noise is much worse.

So far after much reading I can come up with spark plug, o2 sensor, injector...

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks.

Matt.

Cheers guys I've just been out to get a 10mm spark plug socket, will take it out and have a look in the morning. Could it be the spark plug itself or is it just to look for diagnosis?

Where are the injectors located and how do I swap them around?

I was certain I'd swap a coil and it would be sorted :ihatpcs:

Its a process of elimination ,do the easiest first . plug ,coil , check wiring ect if you have noid lights or a 501 bulb with the wire bent round you can test injector pulse .you just need to work your way through it .Did you fit a new coil ? i have had faulty new ones . good luck .

Thanks :approve:

I know its not the coil as I fitted a new one as well as unplugging all others to see if the sound changes, even when I unplug cylinder 3 coil the noise gets much worse, presumably as it goes from mis-firing to no firing.

Do i need to remove anything to get to the injectors?

Swapped the spark pug and coil for cylinder 3, and code has disappeared.

Spark plug looked fine, so must have been a coil on the way out.

Just letting it run now for a while to see if the orange light turns off. Too miserable outside to go for a run :(

Thanks for all the help :approve:

Ha, new code multiple misfire  new spark plugs and coils all round or get it up to Scott...? I'll give him a buzz next week I think.

How old are your coils ? ,i would replace them all as with most coil on plugs when you get one failed one they seem to follow one after the other . You might as well do the basics before you take it anywhere for things you can do yourself .

They are fairly old. Certainly before my ownership and I've had the car 3 years! So your right, a refresh might be a good idea.

He's not taking new work at the min (so he told me anyway) due to being overloaded and an impending holiday, just as an FYI up front.
