Opie Oils and Renaultparts Direct

Ordered the required bits and pieces to do a full fluid change (gearbox, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid) and new spark plugs from Opie Oils / Renaultparts direct on Monday. Everything has arrived safe and sound by Thursday / Friday.

Just a quick note of thanks for the quick service and good prices.

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but make sure you keep on top of your air con fluid. Get it replaced and topped up regularly and turn it on for a while from time to time.

If the fluid level runs too low or you don't run the air con for too long the seals on the compressor can dry up and then fail costing you a new air con compressor for about 600 quid.

Cheers Rob, will take a look.

I was planning on getting the air-con regassed next weekend as the car is in the shop getting gearbox woes sorted.

A bearing is going on 3rd and 4th, the car is going into Motech at Ellsemere Port who are going to drop the box out, replace all the bearings, synchros and pop a new clutch and slave cylinder in as well at the same time.

Should be fine, its just going to be a fair bit of cash to get fixed.

Not sure i've ever checked my Aircon. Come to think of it, i've never had it regassed since new...........

That sounds really expensive Phil but it's definately worth it for peace of mind, gearbox problems tend to escalate if not nipped in the budd! :0

If I were you Ali I'd get it re gassed and the air con lube oil replaced (I think there's a type of lube oil they put in with it). Someone on this site recently got it done for 40 quid! I'm gonna get mine done as soon as I can.

Good call. Cars in the bubble just now, so will add it to my massive list of things to do in 2012.
