OMG De-Cat.. Less booooooooooooooooom!???

Some of you may think this sounds a bit daft..

Any one had experience of the OMG with de-cat?

Only reason im asking is my cooper S i had a while ago, altho louder when de-catted it did reduce the boomyness quite abit at the same time.. Louder when flat out but quieter with de-cat when driving normally..

Its the same for the S2000 Honda's, lots of people cant stand the boomyness of pretty much any aftermarket exhaust until they de-cat it and its all ok..

Like I say, im pretty sure not many people have done this but wanted to get an idea, im 99% getting an OMG and all my cars previously have been 'LOUD' so I would say I will cope with it fine, exhaust noise is a very personal thing..

My dad thought the Milltek on my S3 was just right..

Then I took the cats out and replaced the rear section with pipe  and he thought it was horrible but i loved it..

Anyways any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Jc

Good point, be interesting to know.

I love exhaust noise too, a good throaty bark, nice.

I think removing the cats makes it more raspy and therefore can help remove the boom..

Is there anyone out there who has OMG and actually likes it?

ahh hah..

How did you do it, de-cat the OEM downpipes and remove the collector?

Was it stupidly boomy? Its so hard to know how bad, bad is!? lol

Bad is something like mine I'd guess.

All I have is two pipes going into an empty exhaust box (no idea why I need an empty box). I must ask sometime.

It's loud!

Cut out the cats though they had already been destroyed by the nitrous, replaced with through pipe, kept collector. I used to drive with that system, no covers and no bulkhead.....that was stupidly loud at any revs.
Changed to Janspeed full system with decat. Not as loud, no boom and more raspy sound. They use narrower pipes but it is freer flowing and yields a gain of 10-15bhp.
Now having a custom made setup.

So you run manifolds no cats into an 'empty box' then out..

What a legend!! haha..

Any chance of some sound clips of yours?

Also looks like your running a fancy plenham?

Thanks

Jonny
