offside/right driveshaft?!

That is quite impressive.

Well the easiest option is to take the new shaft to the car.

1. Loosen the hub nut
2. Remove the wheel
3. Have the car well supported as you will be going underneath
4. remove brake caliper and cable tie it up to the spring to prevent busting the hose, maybe this step is optional but I do it.
5. undo track rod end
6. undo the two strut to hub carrier bolts, note which way they point
7. go under the car and tap out the old pin
8. remove old shaft, you may already have done this
9. new shaft back on, roll pin in, dob of sealant over the ends to help prevent the pin rusting
10. lever the hub carrier out and stuff the splined half axle into the hub, being careful not to damage the gaiter
11. refitting is the reverse of removal :p

good advice, i'm a bit dubious about the roll pin bit - where do i get a new one?! seems i can slot the d/s in without removing the bit held on by the roll pin, like how io pulled out the failed one (been noisy for ages)

Gonna pm bidderman1969 to try and get that d/s soonish.

the bit held on by the roll pin needs to come off, that will be part of the new shaft when you get the correct side one ;)

roll pin from renault for a few pence, pick up a couple while you are there

i gave very clear and simple instructions on how to convert it to be used on the offside

Also for the shaft to pull out like that either the trackings very, very wrong or the shafts the wrong one

orrible mess, might see my way to checking the gearbox oil while i'm doing the mucky jobs, might even empty that backseat ashtray my brothers gf uses

i think the shaft i have is too small, see it compaired in the pic leaning on the bumper of the uno? looks dinky in comparison.

I am grateful for the advice btw

The tracking is out,i had it done after i replaced the hub but steering wheel vibrates badly at 70. will sort it when i can afford new tyres.

--------------------------

eitherway i'll need to get the pins and sort out a gaitor...

i had a pair of N/A 2litre drive shafts on my 21 when I bought it, took them off and put the proper turbo drive shafts on but they looked like the comparison you have

the shaft dia doesn't matter, some have the thin shafts others have the fat shafts.

most 1.4's use the fat shaft btw

it's the length/height that i was concerned about, the tripod is higher on the fat one - bearing in mind the stub axle is still in the hub

the widest part with the band around is a couple of inches lower on the new part, looks to be shorter

that black one looks like it with the sun thing on the end too... perhaps some others could cast an eye over them!

Both have an extra lump on the middle!? the one with the teeth on looks abit different at the gearbox end...shape-wise, tricky!!!

think the "lump" is just a weight, so its balanced right? can you tell im not sure? lol

im thinking the silver one is for one with ABS?

ahhh, i see. if you want to hold on to them i understand. My 19 doesn't have ABS

are you keeping both 19's then? i thought you were using one to finish the other?

thats the plan!

depends if i can get the welding deffo sorted first, as if they say "fuck, thats wayyyyyyyy too bad, i'll still have the other one, lol
