Offsets.........

So, been toying with the idea of running some split rims on my Phase 2 Clio.

My question is if I run 8" on the front & 9" on the back what is peoples views on the perfect Offsets ?

Now the Cromodora's are the right width for a Phase 2 but you could really do with the rears being 5mm - 8mm inboard and the front being 15mm outboard.

Any thoughts ?

Some good info here on offsets, Hoogi ;)

Must admit I've toyed with the idea of reducing the Croms rear offsets by about 10mm just to get them sitting flush. But never had the balls to get it done if things went wrong as they took me best part of 2 years to get a set!!!!! If the front was the problem I'd have done it by now as I've got 2 spare fronts brand new ;)

If I get them done I've heard good reviews from Ian Jemison wheel repair He looks to have the knowledge / expertise in working with the magnesium motorsport wheels.

Hey Russo, I'd have no issues what so ever getting my rears machined down - just didn't know anyone out there who could sort.

Any ideas how much they would charge(ish)...........or have you not dug that deep ?

I'd give it a go if it's not too expensive - don't mind putting the nuts on the meat-block, so to speak [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

If I have time I'll ring them tomorrow and see what they say.

I also read the section you put the link up for.............I sort of worked out that the Offsets would be around the mid 30's...........would you agree or have I calculated the wrong way ?

Anyway, again, thanks for the shout.

No idea on price Hoogi, never got as far as ringing them.

Stevo might be able to tell you a little more about the place IIRC he took a damaged Crom to them and sorted it for him :approve:

Let us know how you get on as I'm still interested in getting them spot on sitting flush :)

Might need to double check clearances around inner arches, brake calipers etc

Get back to you with the best offsets ( just need to get my head round it LOL )
IIRC the offset ( ET ) is the size from the centre line of the width of the wheel to mounting face.

Russo - my problem with Offsets is I always get my positives and negatives mixed up :s

Pretty sure a negative gives you the nice deep dish look...............but not something you get on a V6 unfortunately.

Once I'm home I'll do some measuring to see how much room we have to play with.

Also want to work out if I can run 8.5" on the front and 9.5" on the back, not sure if my KW's will give me anymore room or less................anyway if that's possible I have something in mind and will order straight away ;)

Cheers again :approve:

I have just read a thread on the Forum about people fitting 16mm spacers both front and rear to their Phase 2's to pad the wheels out in the arches.

So if a standard rear wheel can move out 16mm then that should automatically give you an extra 16mm inboard...............would please agree with this theory ?

Therefore my thinking is I could fit 9.5" rears as I would only need to go 12.5mm both inboard and outboard.

Matt has also contacted me to say he knows 8.5" will fit on the fronts and will provide the offset once he's looked.

Interesting :)
