OBD reader/air bag fault

Hi chaps,

Can anyone recommend me a cheap OBD reader for a Phase2?

Ive got an airbag fault and would rather have a code to give me a pointer where to start looking than to start taking things apart willy nilly.

I recently had a rodent issue with my mini clubman where a mouse ate through the airbag and interior light wiring from front to back in several places in the head lining.
What a complete nightmare and the head lining never went back without damaging it so hoping on the Clio it's just a bad connection and not another mouse!

Many thanks Martin

Thanks James will look into that but would really like to be sure before I start.

Had the Mini plugged in at the dealership at a cost of £120 before I dismantled the car so I knew which direction to go. Can't take the Clio to a garage because it's out of MOT and i've been looking OBD readers on Ebay and wondered if they were any good.

Cheers Martin

I bought the £20 one from Eurocarparts many years agolink bit clunky but did the job! As ever they have a sale on so may get a good deal on it at the moment.

I had an air bag fault, turned out to the wire loom in the steering wheel that needed replacing
which is quite common in Clio’s apparently.

Well I ordered a scanner from Eurocar Parts, went for the slightly dearer £30 one but when it turned up it said on the back of the packet in big red writing that it's not suitable for diagnosing airbag or ABS faults, only engine faults so sent it back. Shame they don't state that on the website.

Thanks for the advice Pilley.
