so the same as a phase 1 then? you 100% sure thats a phase 2 non uk one?

see for yourself... an ad for a phase 2, theres photos of the plaque on the ad.

LINK

have seen it on countless other ones from europe, so id say i was confident thats correct. but never 100% sure with these cars!! lol

I think we posted up a pic from the French trip of a wallet full of prototype plaque designs ... I will try and dig it out as it may also throw some light on things ...

cool would love them!

anyway so the French phase 2 had II in from of their number then buy the lots of it meaning they are a phase 2.

so I have bought 3 proper Clio V6 metal plaques off ebay to have a play with and will let you know how I get on!

I would have thought only cars with 'dubious history' would end up having the un authentic metal plaques.. :s

Im not planning on selling it so it wont matter, its only for my personal happiness as the plastic one looks cheap on such a great car! I have just bought a Clio 197 F1 and thats got a really nice metal plaque, even my Mums new Twingo Gordini has a nicer plaque!

besides as long as I keep the original one then there will never be anything "dubious" about its history!

Hi Carl,

Agreed, the metal plaques look so much better. The plastic one are just add to the other tiny imperfections of our great cars.. :approve:

Ok I had these arrive in the post today;

this guy on ebay seems to have loads that hes sold and is selling so I thought Id see what there like as cheap enough! They are genuine Renault ones and you can see where they have had screws in! They must be the ones the removed from the UK cars to put the plastic ones on and hes got hold of them somehow!? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

It really annoys me that Renault UK took these nice alloy plaques off and put cheap and nasty plastic ones on! If anyone has messed up how authentic our cars are its Renault UK!! by taking the nice specail metal plates off and putting cheap ones on and not even keeping a record of what numbers went on what cars! it makes me angry!

Anyone these sort of mess my plan up as the number is etched in not printed on as I thought but I still have some ideas!

on a side note is there anyway I can find the original number mine would have been from the factory? Who is best to contact about finding that out if its possible?

seller on ebay who has them,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/renault-sport-cli ... 4154272320

although price has gone up alot as I paid £11 each for them, if you look at his feedback hes sold loads, he had 14 for sale when I bought mine, though he vague on the numbers on them so its pot luck what you get! I asked several times but never got a straight answer!

I was hoping to polish the numbers off, but had to go deep to erase them as already stated they are etched, quick fix was a dymo label, not quite what i intended but under £7.00 , not too much to lose. Make sure he doen't get too greedy up to £10. is enough.

He put them up to £25.00 at one point last week.

I doubt he has very many left.

On the other hand, our cars are authentic UK cars by the style of plaque when we received the car. Fitting a metal plaque in a UK car will possibly look a bit dodgy to future buyers. Was it so badly written off that it needed a new centre console and a cheapo badge off Ebay? That's what some might think in years to come.

hes not sold any since he put the price up so that will teach him to be gready!

as I said before as long as I still have the original uk plaque in its file then its history wont be dodgy!!

The UK plaque is just so cheap and nasty compared to the nice alloy one, I just cant believe Renault France allowed Renault UK to do what they did, and if they did then cant believe they allowed them to fit such a cheap and nasty one!

anyway I may not even use it as I was hoping to have the number polished off but its kinder messed my plans up as the are engraved in already, still going to and engraver soon to see what he can do, or if he can copy the UK plaque on a new piece of alloy?
