numbered plaques

No they are not right off, the original metal phase 2's were removed at time of import to the UK and replaced with the new style UK plastic phase2 plaques starting from number 1, leaving these original plaques as defunct and ending up for sale on ebay. Hence the discussion on matching the original ph2 plaque number with the new lower replaced number.

Also I have been reasonably informed that the seller of these plaques is actually a chap that worked for TWR.

oh yea god Im not on the ball today!!! Was getting mixed up as mine didnt get its plaque taken off.

I was led to believe he, or/and a mate of his worked at one of the Renault import centres Mossy.

It was at these import centres where the plaques were removed and replaced with the plastic ones which we now have on the cars. They were just removed and chucked in a bucket for disposal. Except, guess what.... they weren't. This whole plaque record, or lack of, from Renault is shambolic.
It is for this reason why our register is so valuable, and why its been so important to gather as much data about these cars as soon as possible, to minimise any unrecorded and bogus use of plaques to unknown cars.

No official records were kept of what original number was replaced with which new UK number..
