Things are moving along nicely.
The original idea was to get rid of the exit pipes from the ends of the box and bring 2 x 3" pipes out from the back. However, this would've meant the tail pipes sticking out too far.
Onto Plan B, the exit pipes will remain at each end but will be 3" dia stainless pipe and the 90mm tips will go onto that. The box will be covered with a sheet of stainless as planned, will tidy it up and hide the seams
Although the wheels were refurbed at a Mag Alloy place when I bought them last year, there was a bit of corrosion on the inner barrels of the 2 rears. When Scott removed the wheels to send the car into the bodyshop, he rang and told me the paint was popping off where the corrosion was and he put it down to poor prep.
I spoke to the place that did them and although they said they'd redo them they were non committal re the corrosion.
Scott spoke the place he uses and they said that before repainting they'd need treating with Zinc Chromate, after searching Google apparently it's used to counteract corrosion on alloy metals so, off to them the wheels went....hopefully should be all good this time. Wheel studs have been fitted so the wheel bolts have been consigned to the bin.
The wrap is planned to go on next week all being well and the car should be back with me by the end of the month. Then into the detailers for about 4 days for him to work his magic and have the decals reapplied.
Old v new exhaust tip. albeit on the old pipework.
