NOS-Where should I put my 11lb bottle

A quick question that needs a quick answer.

I have bought a full NOS setup from The Wizards of NOS and have plunged for the fecking huge 11lb bottle.

Is it safe to run the bottle in the stupid space at the back of the engine bay where the spare tool kit is kept or will it be to hot a location for safety reasons, I guess if its there I wont be needing the bottle warmer I purchased.

Is that space big enough? the 11 lb bottles seem huge :)

Wouldn't behind the seats, on the parcel shelf be better?

how much was the kit, if you don't mind me asking? :)

Yeah how much!

Oh and better get a trophy clutch quick! The standard one will die all to soon with all that torque!

Peter :D

Mine is on the shelf with 2 seats in and on the passenger floor when 1 seat is in. Ideally longitudinal is best but the shelf is fine. I wouldn't try the boot, even if it fits, as there's too much heat from the exhaust that will play havoc with your bottle pressure and could be dangerous. There is a dip tube inside the bottle which should be pointing down to the rear of the bottle when placed across the car. That way when you accelerate the liquid is forced to that side of the bottle and there is better pickup.

Ive got the same setup as TRWI with all the bells and whistles, its cost about 2k all in fitted by The Wizards Of Nos, the position of the bottle is causing a major headache as I have a sub and amp build in the shelf behind the seats.

The rear space behind the engine bay is out then due to the heat, the only other place I can think of is in the front end of the car building a frame to hold the bottle in the front tray liner.

You could experiment with the temps in the boot....(if the bottle fits!!) Maybe an insulating blanket would help. The problem is, if the bottle gets too hot, the pressure will rise whereas you should be jetted to about 900-950 psi. Anything above this and you will run lean with all the dangers that entails. I assume you have a bottle guage? Stick it in there and see if the pressure shoots up. Try it also when in traffic so there's no airflow either.
You could fit it in the front but that means running a very long line. Lots of people with front mounted engines stick the bottle in the boot though. I've seen bottles mounted on top of the engine covers, along the windows, a bit unsightly and lethal in a head on crash as they would come at your heads like torpedoes I imagine. Is there no way to mount it above your sub and amp build?
Let us know how you get on and what results you get. What power is it supposed to be?

Cheers for the feedback, the other option is to go for a smaller bottle and mount it in the passenger footwell, you know yourself how important the pressure is to get the best results, the car is booked in on the 22nd in Doncaster for the work done, gonna leave the power to them guys as they seem to have done a few V6's with good results.

I think they have included 75bhp jets to start with, went for the best progressive they sell to keep everything running well, purge kit, bottle warmer, big chrome 11lb bottle and fully installed and fitted by the Wizards, ill post some pics when its all in and running.

Look forward to the results................

I have 2 11lb bottles to extend time between refills, I just swap them over. If you go for the 5lb bottle you could get 2 as well........They can link the 2 together if you find room in the car for 2 small ones.

Poundrick, a slight change of topic (my appologies) but do you have any pics of your sub & amp install as this is something I'm desparate to do!

Also thinking about NOS, so would provide a heads up in planning a location for subs, bottle etc.

Cheers

Iain

Iain as soon as the car is finished Ill post pics.

The install consists of 2 x 12inch subs behind the seats with an amp in between them, 2 more amps on either side of the engine cover, custom door builds holding 2 x 5 inc drivers, 2 x tweetors in rebuilt and trimmed door pillars, widescreen TV smoothed and trimmed into the dashboard keeping the temp display with DVD in glovebox, roof lining retrimmed in blue alcantarra to match the install and finally NOS with controller postion.

Clarkie,

Thats the best place for fitting but thats now filled with subs and amps.

Colin my insurance has been paid for me as a sponsership deal so not sure what they think about NOS.
