NON starting crashed vee

As you all may know I have bought a crashed vee, well went to start in and it was fine for about 30 secs then just died and not to start again?

Is there fuel cut off switch anywhere or something?

Its getting no fuel?

Its go a full tank and a charged battery.?

I have checked all the fuses, and relays?

I have bypassed the fuel pump relay and I can get fuel up to the rail.

Its as if maybe the immobiliser is in or something? the alarm etc all works?

I have plugged it in and no fault codes have come up, it sort of tries to go but then nothing.

any other ideas?

I don't think the phase 2 has a fuel cut off switch. I'm having a similar problem due to a broken wire or bad connection somewhere.

Well messed around most day to find exactly that!......no bloody fuel in it despite the gauge showing its full!

Learnt a lot though about how a vee comes apart, stripped all the rear covers off and removed the rear tray carpets behind the seat to get to the inspection panel so you can get the tank sender unit out, and found the fuel filter! wonder how many vees have ever had this changed? I always thought the vee was like the 172/182 and had no fuel filter! Bitch to get to as you have to peal off the sound deadening under the carpet to get the cover off! and it would never go back the same!

Turns out the force of the crash has broken the sender unit off so it was hanging by its wires inside the tank and giving the gauge a false reading! The storage yard must have drained the fuel, though I thought they would only have done that if it was going into a breakers yard!

So its been a fun day! :(

Happy to hear you found the problem. When you come across e possible fuelling problem, next time disconnect the rail to make sure there really is fuel coming from the pump. If everything is fine and the system is pressurized, there will be coming a nice amount of fuel out of the lines when disconnecting.

EVERY combustion engine has a fuel filter somewhere! The intervals are something like 240'000km and unlimited time. I doubt many vees have been driven so far! Many modern cars have the filter integrated in the pump/sensor unit and usually one of those elements breaks before the filter actually needs replacement :)

According to most makers the filter is a lifetime one, as in build into the tank, I do this for a living but haven't ever had the need to pull my vee apart so all new.
