There's a bit on FB about it atm, someone has it and is asking how much it's worth. They don't seem to know a lot about it apart from it being cat c.

I couldn't find it on the register but I'm trying on my phone.

Doesn't seem to be listed anywhere on the forum either, but Duncan now has some info to add it :-)

Registration number
GJ51 XXR

Vehicle identification number (VIN)
VF1C61A0622663204

Model
Clio RS V6

Model type
CB1A
Date of manufacture
06 2001

I might be being a little bit stupid here and correct me if I'm wrong....I usually am I know BUT last time I applied for a log book on a car that had sat for MANY years, from what I remember, all they wanted was the vehicle details, colour, VIN, registration and my details.
As good as this register is, surely its abit silly throwing up the VINs no?

We are testing the waters after a discussion on us putting VINs into the register. Once VINs are in the register it will be impossible to prevent people from posting VINs on the forum. I bet someone will not like the idea. (I'm not keen)

The VIN posted above is not correct and isn't really a Vee.

Does it mean that "#50" is a replica and not really a Vee?

As regards sharing VIN's, what exactly seems to be the issue. Its not as if Clio V6's can be cloned quite easily, and given that only a handful of cars, especially RHD ones, are in existence what (improper) use can be made by unscrupulous characters?

I only ask since I haven't experienced any negatives by sharing VIN's of cars that I have owned with car clubs, and other interested parties. As such, it would be great if people can post up any negative experiences and/or strong reasons as to why we should not share VIN's amongst Club Members.

No just the VIN I posted isn't the real VIN for this car.

I recall someones VIN was posted on the forum and the owner went ballistic! Ironically it was the same chap who'd been booted out of a car club for gathering VINs.

Think it was just a slip up when pasting info on the forum. We removed it swiftly of course.

Dunno James,

there would definitely be value if the Club maintained a record of VINs against the idents/reg nos, doesnt need to be on the web or publicly available, but for someone like Duncan it would be invaluable reference material. Would also help in the event of a vehicle being stolen to some degree and also avoid potential 'ringers'.

In that case I would be more than happy to have the info stored and to some degree I would not be that worried if it was in a secure area on the club site, would be interesting to see a complete correlation between VINs and Plaques!

and I see that Vee was a barn find

"It's been in a barn for 4 years alone with an Audi a8 with 23k miles on it"

Added to register! Thanks for posting.

I do keep a record of Vins against plaque numbers/reg plates, but only where they have been shared publically. I have not made this information public.

Since becoming registrar, I have come across many people who do not wish to share registration plates or plaque numbers in our register, in fact some people seem down right supsicious of my intensions.

Some people are happy to give me the inforamtion, but do not want it published in our register. I also have a private collection of this information and only share it with James.

For that reason I have not added Vins to the public register. If people are happy to provide this infomration, then fantastic as it will help me cross reference the plaque numbers.

I really cannot understand why some are so cagey about sharing plaque numbers and VIN's - this information is not secret, and can be found out anyway if one goes through the right channels.

As such, if you don't already have them I would be happy to PM you the VIN's of #002 & #314. For now I think if you manage to collate all info related to at least those Vees that are in the UK or those that were officially imported into the UK then that would be a start..........and we may even manage to narrow down the original plaque numbers.

To be fair you to can walk into any car parts supplier with a reg and get all the details from them vin reg date colour etc etc
