No 12 - Phase 1 Mars Red

Looks a nice car at a good price.

Mars is such a lovely colour, especially the phase one hue (biased!!)

The blue interior with the metallic red paint though. What were they thinking. [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

It's not just a blue interior, it's blue, grey black and silver! I must admit to being a little alarmed when I first saw mine, but now I love it for being, like the rest of the car, so quirky.

Not a bad price at all.....

Are those headlamps OEM, and is [v6plaque]012[/v6plaque] the first UK Mars Red?

Headlamps are not OEM. the car doesn't show up on Renaults database (may just be that it was first registered as a completely different Reg number) so not sure on its order. ph1 uk plaque went in order of customer order placement, not on arrival the UK, so it may be later than logic would suggest.

Of course, forgot about the difference in the way plaque numbers were allocated between the two Phases.....

It's definitely quirky. :)

Probably explains why silver was the most popular paint colour. It would have taken a brave man to tick the red paint option at the dealer knowing the only interior available was blue.

I think that querkieness only adds to its appeal. A bit like the 5 turbo 1 interior. The more outrageous from the factory, the better!

However, In the flesh, the red/blue clash is far less in your face.

I seem to recall that buyers were told that if they wanted red or blue, then they had to wait for it (in some cases years) where as silvers could be had faster. hence, along with silver being the launch colour, and fashionable back then, is why there were so few colours ordered.

5 turbo 1 interior is bonkers cool! 80's fantastica and all the better for it. [smilie=yay.gif]

If the red paint and blue interior was spec'd on something like a 911 then the car would be considerably more difficult to sell on.
