Im looking to buy an exhaust, been looking at the K-tec and the Qs but not made up my mind yet. Im wanting to remove the cats aswell, im thinkin of taking to my local custom exhaust place to have exhust fitted and cats removed is it possible to have the standerd cats cut out and straight through pipes put in place or are the cats in the monifolds?

Sean

i can just put the cats back in when its mot time done that when i had my 172, Aye ali, gonna get the exhaust from k-tec i think and get c&c to remove the cats, were exactly r the cats, iv not had a chance to have a good look, any pics??

two pre cat's in manifolds and 2 running vertically, would be a right pain to get to. not a 5 minute job..

I have had a vee with no cats and then refitted them and it made no noticable difference (other then the light went back out and the crap stopped covering the rear of the car. IMO dont waste your money on complete system just replace the second cats and rear box as the 1st cats down pipes are stainless anyway.

New air filter did make a differenc though, knackard original for a new original.

quicksilver sport if driving everyday or OMG for occasional driving but not for the faint hearted. really does drone ae about 2000 rev's.

cool, so my next question is which exhaust to go for??

PM Peter255 for advice. He has a janspeed system with sports cats fitted. Backboxes alone are for "show" rather than "go".
Incidently you'd get mild gains from an RSTuning remap and none of the "drone" from an after-market exhaust.

i agree ali i wouldnt tell them, dont think they would ever find out and if they did just say you didnt realise, might not work with the OMG!!

When i bashed my old 1.2 half of the non obvious stuff wasn't insured and they never blinked...I'm not sayin this is the right move...People get very ansy bout not declaring mods. But i'll run the risk...I'll decare coils when there fitted.

Janspeed full system was dyno tested by another user on here ages ago with sports cats to give +5BHP, and more torque low down.

I have the JS full decat which should be more but likely needs a bespoke map. :(

The JS full system is not as loud as QS (sport, which i had previously). QS OMG is even louder so i can't even comment on that! IMO the JS has inferior sound at low speeds, but it howls at high revs and is just as good as the QS! The JS also pops and bangs like a mad man! Also no drone! Also JS is giving me amusingly enough +10% fuel economy! Seriously! Overall its standard stuff really. Loud back boxes sound wicked at low speed or if driven occasionally, but drive you insane on a long drive. Full systems give you proper gains rather than looks and noise.

IMO QS looks better too, but its personal taste really. I moved over purely to get more power.

Peter :D
