This would be great, let us know.
Are the original screws alloy ? Stainless and ally don't mix do they ? thats why we get the corrosion under the plates

the corrosion seems to be caused by water being wicked between the plate and the caliper, a splash of coppergrease would help this but nothing better than regular stripping and having a look.
the originals seem to be poor quality stainless with the hex just rounding out like they are made of butter. i had to resort to tapping the screw round with a punch, as they are so soft thats what kipperd em.
as for mixing, yes they are very compatible but the screws will still tighten up if the moisture gets in as the ally oxidises and expands round the thread, again a smidge of grease.
both sets i have now stripped were built dry, this was probably a cost cutting exercise by ap or reno, the corrosion causes the front brakes to bind slightly and could cause problems with wear and wasting fuel.
so boys and girls, i think it would be a good idea to get the wheels off and have a look at this before the corrosion takes hold. not a difficult job but you will have to get the brake pins out to check the pad fit.

Got the screws, but had to buy 100 of em, nice part though in a2 stainless did work out at just under £4, so if anyone wants any i will run a post with them for sale and will work out p&p.
i did speak to someone about the caliper and the screw does not come with the plate, saying that the guy wasnt interested is an understatement.

Good work Spike I'll take some of them when you work it out [smilie=thanks.gif]
It should be at least an annual job, being a racing caliper the pads would normally be out every weekend !

thats one of the problems of using race kit on the road, i think once a year and you will stand a chance of getting the screws out easy, maybe even bi-annually.
just need to order some pins now. bolts listed as £4.95 inc p&p first class.

thanks for the offer but i already have them, had to buy a box, and there is no point in reinventing the wheel.
however is this a thing that you do? if it is this interests me as there are many special bolts i deal with thet folk want in stainless and titanium.

Bought these new discs all round for just over £200 from RPD. I doubt I will need them for a while but always handy to have already paid for parts. Got spare rear pads too.

Bought disc from Pure Car Parts complete with yellow stuff EBC pads £205-00 inc vat and delivery for the front, rears inc red stuff pads are also very much reduced, if you ring them 08452709009 and mention V6clio.net they will honour the prices.
Now just waiting for new caliper seals and pad guides/screws as these are all the worse for wear when I took it apart! As mentioned earlier there is considerable corrosion behind the guideplates causing the pads to be gripped too tightly, bare stainless and carbon steel mixed in a salty environment not good!!

Great to hear that these consumables can now be acquired at a realistic price.

Thanks for the info guys :approve:
