Unfortunately not a Renault, hence the non Renault section, but French & turbocharged so hopefully not all is lost! After 14 months of not being happy with my diesel Mondeo (mostly because it's never been right) I managed to get the finanace company to accept a rejection on it. Then started a long think about what I should replace it with. Having almost paid off part of my divorce settlement, but still doing over 20k miles a year, I thought I would go for something fun but not entirely ruinous - at least that was the plan. I did seriously look at Megane 250 265 Cups, as well as Hyundai i30Ns, but thought that the fuel consumption would probably bankrupt me. In the end I've settled on a Peugeot 308 GTi 270. 1205kg kerbweight, 1.6 turbo, forged pistons, i-beam rods, 270hp, mechanicl LSD, and five doors hopefully mean it will fun and practical as well as survive pretty well. 380mm Alcon brakes up front should also mean it'll stop pretty damn well too so definitely looking forward to doing a few trackdays.
Just waiting on delivery from the dealership then a few essential trips to get used to it. Already started to look at air filter, upgraded intercool, rear brace - all the usual stuff. Will have see what it needs after a few spirited drives but it should be pretty good out of the box.
