Hi Dawn,

Just seen this on cliosport - you're crazy :) :) How much have you spent on all of that?

Excellent collection of products mate. Perhaps you could post some tips of cleaning and how to get the most out of the LY paints. I normally:

1. 2 bucket wash with mit and megs Gold class
2. SRP the EGP
3. Usually Autoglym High Def wax

Have you taken to detailing planes now? Still looking for a Vee?!!

Matt.

Hey matt, you could always leave your car with me for a day, she would look factory fresh!

As for getting your car looking its best then maybe try dodo juice lime prime lite or need 4speed via pc? Then a few coats of colli 476 ?

Or just watch me do it 4u

I have calmed down on the vee abit, still desperate to have one but I also love my 197! I think I have managed to persuade my bf that he needs to buy one after his E reg fiesta 1.6 diesel dies! [smilie=hungry.gif]

Cheers :D

Now there's an offer I can't refuse! Where abouts are you Dawn - Saw the cracking job you did on your 197. Though being white must be an arse to keep clean!

PS - I Thought need 4speed via pc was a playstation game [smilie=bunny_4.gif]

Did anyone see the fifth gear (I think it was them) segment where they compared 3 types of cleaning/valetting ...

Basically they prepped 3 cars with a PC and polish and tried 3 approaches to cleaning ...

1. A car wash ...
2. A jet wash with brush ...
3. A hand car wash with one of the squeejee thingess to remove the water ...

The results were (from what I can remember) ...

1. Hand car wash worst, mainly due to the squeejee ...
2. Then the jet wash and brush ...
3. The car wash was best ...

Mind you I expect none of us would do any of thise but it was an interesting segment ...

On another note at my first WSR I think it was Dennis who turned up in his Vee with a huge box of cleaning products (not quite as large as your collection Dawn) and I was well impressed with the whole detailing process [smilie=bowdown.gif] Having a Black/Gold myself I tend to avoid cleaning it at all :D

Is simply jet washing your car down with water ok (not using the shampoo or brush)- I've been doing that quite alot over winter (it's waxied underneath) this gets rid of any dirt and I then dry it with a microfibre cloth.

Matt,

I pretty much always use a jetwash to clean my car with a cold soap to loosen the dirt first followed by a cold rinse. I NEVER use a bursh ... I have a mini Karscher jet washer at home too with a soap attachement. Obviously your normal garage jet washer is for your typical car cleaning duties and is different to a steam cleaner which is more risky to use ...

I tend to only polish my car a handful of times a year. In the interim I use speed detailer and, given the Vee spends most of it's life in the garage, this suites me. As a result though, jet washing it tends to remove all the dirt and restores the finish with the water still beading months after a wax. I hate cleaning cars for one and, as my Vee is Black/Gold, I try and avoid cleaning it unecessarily to avoid scratches, swirls and the removal of the previous wax coating ...

Call me Lazy ... I really admire people like Dawn, and others, who are clearly fastidious with detailing. Quite simply I don't have the knowledge or the patience though I would love my Vee to be PC'd and detailed just to see what it was like :-)

Matt,

Simply jet washing your car with water and then drying it will put scratches and swirls in your paint. This is beacause you wont have removed all the dirt and the drying cloth will just pick up that dirt and create the scratches as you go over the paint.

Haha, I recognise that transformer picture, always nice to see someone appreciate my work enough to display it.

You can see it and more of my stuff in my gallery here!
